Stayed here for three months in the winter. Observatory is beautiful even though somewhat broken down- a fantastic place for art lovers and vintage explorers. The pool is perfect for lazing around and the rooms are cosy and comfortable.

A friend told me about her great stay in Makulu, so it happened to be that it was my home for 6 weeks. It was a perfect stay during my internship at Groote Schuur, what was a 10 minutes walk. Nearby are great restaurants, bars, supermarkets and internetcafes. Althought the neighboorhood is not safe at night (if you want safety...

I called Barbara last minute after having been robbed in Cape Town for the second time.despite being nearly fully booked she was extremely helpful and managed to move things around so there was room for me. The lodge itself is extremely well kept and the staff are very friendly. The price for what you get is good value and its...

When renovating our house, my husband, 2 children and I needed a place to stay for a couple of weeks. Makulu Lodge became our home away from home. We greatly enjoyed the relaxed, comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff and convenient location. The enclosed garden and pool area was perfect for our son, and the other guests brought a wonderful, community feel...

A place to find new friends... thank you very much for your positive review. You are 100% correct, the attic rooms are very compact! For those wanting budget accomodation and are prepared to expect limited space, as well as height constraints due to the angle of the roof, the attic is a good option. But dont get under the "weather"...

We were a group of 5 students from Germany staying 2 weeks at Barbaras place (because of an unexpected overbooking of Makulu Lodge) and other 2 weeks at Makulu Lodge. All in all both accomodations were a great experience for us and we absolutely enjoyed our 4 weeks in Cape Town. We gained a lot from Barbaras advices and met...

Marie, Thank you for your positive feedback. Telkom, the national vendor is our service provider for internet. Our service is limited ot the contracts available and well as download speed and infrastruture that is notably poor in Africa. Makulu Lodge has the best possible contract. The service is "uncapped" but with terms of abuse in the vendors "small print". This...

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 4 months and had a very bad experience with the new owner, Barbara Langridge, from the beginning.
