I stayed here over the weekend of 11/12 February 2017 with my daughter. Very friendly, clean and comfortable B&B. We had our Cocker Spaniel with us and he was equally welcomed. Arriving around 9pm on the Friday we were greeted by Keith - (before we had even got out the car! ) who helped with our bags etc up to...

We stayed over Friday and Saturday nights and although we didn't arrive until nearly 10PM on Friday, we were welcomed by Keith who took us staright up to our room, which was clean, comfortable and spacious, overlooking the delightful garden. We declined joining him in the barn for a bit of socialising but did so on the Saturday. The barn...

We stayed in the blue room overnight. Everything was clean, cosy, and charming, with a massive room and huge comfortable bed. Power shower was a pleasure. KEith and Annie the owners were friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them, with good local knowledge of the area. Breakfast was delicious, plentiful and with a wide range of...

We went there to see Sound of the Sirens in November. It's a fantastic venue. The room is a converted barn, we were advised it may be cold but it wasn't. Bar is well priced, fantastic food on offer. All in all a fantastic night. We see what else goes on next year and maybe book early enough to stay...

Great place to stay - the owner was very friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was very good, and very quiet. Breakfast was excellent, and the owner joined us for that - which is unexpected, but actually really good! Only thing worth mentioning is the road to get to it - be prepared if you are not used to country lanes!...

The most beautiful location we have stayed at in years. The accommodation was immaculately clean. Very comfortable bed. We had a great nights sleep. The breakfast was second to none. The Tamar river is just a small walk down through the beautiful woodland path. I highly recommend this incredibly stunning place 10/10

We stayed at Rumleigh for a few days and enjoyed our time. The owner, Keith, was welcoming and helped us answer any questions we had about the local area. They also have a dog, Betty, who was a pure delight! Freshly cooked breakfast was provides every morning. Sausages, bacon, eggs (however you want them), mushrooms and tomatoes. They also had...

This is a lovely place to stay in South Devon - almost right on the banks of the Tamar River. Clean, comfortable rooms are complemented by a truly amazing breakfast. Keith and Annie are great hosts and have good suggestions as to things to do, places to see and best routes to take in the area. Highly recommended.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Rumleigh by the River is a very old farmstead and offers bed and breakfast and self catering accommodation. The farm sits in its own charming valley right on the border of Devon and overlooks the River Tamar and Cornwall. Our philosophy at Rumleigh is to give our customers stylish, friendly and relaxing breaks away from the rush of the world. Our B&B accommodation is in a large converted barn attached to the old farmhouse - we call it Yellowhammer - after a bird we see often around the farm. We have 3 bedrooms - 2 with en-suites and the 1 with a private bathroom a few steps away down the corridor. Our home cooked breakfasts are fast becoming legend. We serve all locally sourced food (whenever possible) and always use own wonderful eggs from our very free range chickens(you might well encounter them around the gardens). We offer evening meals by arrangement only. The Apartment is Dragonfly a self contained stables conversion. This is strictly for adults and sleeps two in a large comfy bed. We have taken care to give you a well sized bathroom with large walk in shower and a deep relaxing bath tub. We have designed it to be a relaxing and very comfortable, ‘get away from it all’ place. It has an open plan living area with a well stocked kitchen to allow you as much flexibility as possible. However you can alsways book breakfast to your door! Rumleigh Farm sits on the banks of the River Tamar, within a World Heritage Site, and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It offers you the best of all worlds - close to the wilds of Dartmoor and the coast, yet nestled in it’s own nature rich valley complete with rare butterflies and bats! The closest town (10 minutes) is the market town of Tavistock - a foodie's paradise - with a wonderful 7 days a week Pannier Market selling food, plants, and crafts. Both coasts are close but you need a car to get to the best. Although no longer a working farm, Rumleigh has 30 acres for you to stroll through and explore, including a stunning summer house right on the river bank. Our buttercup filled fields often have South Devon Cows on (our neighbours) and are fenced to allow you to walk around without the need to face-off the animals! All the views surrounding are agricultural, but the Heritage of Mining is also evident with old disused chimney stacks poking into the sky.
Everyone comments on the peace and quiet and on the clear night skies with little light pollution so you can star gaze. The vast numbers of birds can produce an unbelievable sound - which is a joy to wake up to. Whatever time of year you cannot help but feel relaxed. Welcome to Rumleigh by the River. ... more   less
