Detailed Reviews
We spent a week here in October, the apartments are a bit out of the way, really recommend a car, roads on either side to nearest villages have no footpaths and are bendy cliffside routes. Immediate area is a bit in transition, one side has unfinished villas and the road up has cleared land for development but that was apparently stalled after the financial crash. Closest 'beach' is just rocks, apparently there are longer term plans to create a marina and a proper sand beach but that looks like its years off. That said with a car you are only minutes away from some great beaches either the highway to Puerto de Mogan or the cliff road to Puerto Rico.
As for the facility itself, its only recently finished, its a triangle of apartment blocks around a communal area swimming pool. A plus for some is a negative for others in that its very quiet, there is no shop/bar/entertainment/lifeguard, although a guy comes in a van in the morning with fresh bread etc, another reason to have a car. Apartments are done to a high spec, think marble steel and mirrors, all with airco and quite spacious. Balconies are basic stone tiled, weirdly you need to rent sun recliners if you want them, same goes for pool towels. Sunloungers in pool area need a refresh, starting to show the affects of 12 month sun, metal and plastic fatigue. Staff very friendly and helpful, rarely namecheck but Catharina on reception was very helpful. So other than that its quiet, the pool wasnt busy when we were there but if more apartments were occupied I can imagine it would fill up quick, no noise in the evenings, Guantanamo restaurant is a few hundred metres down the road and can be recommended, its good but not great. Finally free wifi is available on the terrace just outside reception, and if you are lucky hanging off your balcony! For a reasonably priced quiet self catered (self drive) vacation I can recommend.

Tauro Resort appears quite new and well maintained. As a really great feature the flats are considerably more spacious than usual hotel rooms, which especially for a family is a real advantage (two-room flats). It is in 3 levels, so you can be as much together and apart as you wish. In each room there is a big flat-screen TV (living room and both bed rooms) and in the bed rooms large closets with plenty of room for clothes and stuff. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped, and you can easily cook hot meals for a family. A large fridge/freezer, dish washer, microwave, coffee maker, stove with a large oven, all quite new and modern. There is also a shared laundry machine in the hotel. The terrace is also a good size and could hold a couple of sunbeds if necessary. A mix of sun and shade, morning or afternoon, depending on which part of the hotel your room is in. We had a glimpse of the sea at a distance of about 1,5 km. The road was good with pavements some of the way, and it was save to jog. For golfers, a golf lane (Tauro Golf) ended less that 500 m from the hotel.
The hotel is small (50 apartments), so the pool is just outside your door. In the pool bar you can have a standard meal (different kinds of meat/fish, fries and a salad, burgers, pizza etc.) at a reasonable prize with a large selection of drinks, and very nice coffee. And a full continental breakfast for € 5.
The staff was nice, helpful and available during day and evening (February - low season).
The area seems to be in the beginning of development, and the surroundings are somewhat un-cultivated (lava-hills). So there are no touristic features in the immediate surroundings, which we found to be a relief. Perhaps a car is an advantage, but it is absolutely possible to do without: a taxi to the nearest supermarket (Spar in Playa del Cura) is € 3-3,50 each way; to Puerto Rico € 5-5,50.
Drawbacks? Can´t really think of any, perhaps except for the speed of the internet, which I suppose is an issue at almost every holiday hotel these days. And you hear your neighbors quite easily through the walls.

+1
3 of us shared one of the apartments. We had one facing downvalley - with a sea view. It is on 3 floors - you enter at kitchen level, go down to lounge, patio and a toilet, up to bathroom and main bedroom with a balcony, up again to twin bedded room. It is a fairly new build so very clean, well planned for easy maintenance and a good range of good quality fittings in kitchen and bathroom.
2 large wall mounted TVs - lounge and top bedroom. Plenty of wardrobe space. Large and comfortable beds. Huge fridge. A/c but we didn't need it in January.
Only issue we had is that the apartment was a little short of kitchen tools - but we did eat in most nights and I guess many guests don't do this.
The pool area was very nice - plenty of sunbeds, nice shaded area to sit with drinks, nice pool bar area with drinks and snacks. It is possible - we believe - to book half board and the bar area cooks the food and delivers it to you door. Check this out first with the resort.
There are about 40 units in a triangular formation with the pool area at the centre of the triangle.
The are washing machines on site. The reception area has Wi-Fi available just outside it - 2 tables and chairs for you to use. This operated when the reception area is open. There is also a small library of paperbacks you can borrow to use - most are German but enough English ones.
The website says you have to pay to park our car but this is only if you park in their underground car park. Parking outside the resort is free. Security is good - you have to have a key to get into the resort and another one for your apartment. There is a security guard overnight. Safes are extra to rent but we felt totally secure and didn't use it.
Receptionist - Lucy - is delightful and very helpful. Cleaners came twice ion the week.
It is a 10 min walk to two restaurants down on the main road and a 15 min walk to the small town on the beach which has a reasonable sized supermarket - the only shop to buy food.
So - location is great for being quiet, peaceful yet still close to towns. This suited us down to the ground

Would definitely recommend staying in one of the villas on Tauro. Large and open spaced with good privacy. A little remote so would recommend getting a car to give you flexibility and allowing you to get around
Getting the pool heated was worth the extra euros as well

We found this accommodation in the south west perfect for our needs. The location was away from the large resorts in the area and was very quiet and relaxing. The apartment has two bedrooms, a family bathroom, large sitting room, downstairs toilet, kitchen and two outside areas. The rooms all had cream stone floors and were painted in brilliant white, with one wall mirrors and another floor to ceiling windows. Being out of season the pool was very cold and the bar was not open. There are no restaurants or shops within an easy walk so a car is essential; although a mobile shop seems to visit each morning. We would visit again at low season but think it would be too busy for us in high season. WiFi was available in the reception area, the TV only seemed to have Spanish channels.

Our review is more or less the same as the one by CP Harkin. We had booked at last minute due to a family issue, causing us to change our holiday plans,so didn't research it as we would have liked. The villas are built to a very good specification.Ours was a two storey, two bedroom, bathroon, downstairs cloakroom and a kitchen containing everything need for a self catering holiday.
We hadn't hired a car,but used taxis, which were readily available, thanks to Lucy in reception. It cost 10 euros return for the short trip to Puerto Rico, where there are plenty of bars, restaurants, shops etc.
The pool bar was just opening for business and was progressing at a pace during the week that we were there. There was a good variety of beverages and a draught lager.Food could be ordered and was reasonably priced.
All in all,a very quiet, relaxing break.Staff were vey helpful and frriendly.
Untill area has more development,a hire car would be a serious consideration, unless you use the taxi service.
