Detailed Reviews
Went for a daytrip + rented a tendok for the day. It takes about an hour 15 mins to reach and the mobile reception magically goes off as soon as you reach the carpark. Would definitely recommend a bigger sign board! Reached just in time to get our bags into the tendok and joined the morning jungle trek. My 6+ yr old had no problem with it (thankfully he had proper shoes on) and had good help from the guides for the more tricky parts. The hike takes about 45mins-1 hour. After which it was a full day of tubing & fun in the river. We only took a break for lunch which was very yummy & portions were generous with the wide spread. You can also get drinking water throughout your stay, and they really put an effort in to cater to kids too. The tea break was as awesome as the previous reviews, french toast & pisang goreng! We also had use of the shower once we were done for the day. Overall a very clean and well maintained, affordable place, great for that getaway you needed from the city & phone calls!

Accommodation was a simple tendok which is a combination of a wooden hut and a tent. Nothing glamorous but with only simple essentials like hot water heater , ceiling fans ,and very comfortable beds to make our stay as comfortable as possible. There’s no need for air conditioner as the air here can be quite chilly , even in the afternoons. One can just enjoy nature right at the doorstep of the tendok.
Food was amazing . We were fed 4 meals a day . We had English breakfast which consisted of sausages , scrambled eggs, mushrooms ,baked beans and toasts. Lunch was a rice set with 6 dishes with fruits as desserts. For tea , we were served banana fritters and french toasts . Dinner for the first night was a steamboat which was very appropriate for a chilly weather and barbecue platter of meat and seafood for the second night. Absolutely no complaints at all. Food was well- balanced with lots of vegetables and fruits . Drinks like fresh water, coffee and tea is available all day till 8pm.
Activities :We went for jungle trekking could be a wee bit tricky as rain on the previous day had made the paths slippery . We survived. A good experience for my 7 year old who has never experienced the jungle before . Besides jungle trekking, we also went down to the river and tried tubing . Floating down the river on an old tyre can be quite exhilarating . A word of caution though the currents can be quite strong at times especially during the rainy weather . After all the physical activities , one can just enjoy the rest of the day sitting on the porch of the tendok with a good book , enjoying a book while being serenaded by sounds of the jungle . A perfect way for a digital detox

Took our 3 kids: 5, 9 and 11 for a couple of days away from kl. They absolutely loved every minute. From the tubing down the river, to the jungle trek with walkie talkies radioing in the checkpoints, to spotting frogs, poisonous bugs and giant millipedes, looking for the slow loris, star gazing, playing traditional games, they insist on going back again one day! The food is incredible for such a remote location, the staff are lovely, and driving through a jungle river in the back of a pick up was hands down the best check out the kids have experienced.

It was as if we walked into a magical land that day when all of a sudden our phones are not contactable and unreachable for at least 2 days 2 nights.
When we walked down the stairs from the parking, the sound gushing water from the Chilling River and the coolest air started to invigorate us. We enjoyed the short walk through the hanging bridge. We have walked into the 'tunnel of magical land'. All we saw is green and green and flowers and fauna.
We get to eat home cooked food without msg and 4 meals a day. We were so stuff with food.. We are so well-fed that we opt out for lunch on the last day. Can't eat anymore 😆.
The water are so cold that it's such a therapeutic to our skin. They have water heater so no worries 🤓. The air is so clean that I don't have nose block nor running nose while I was there. The night is so cold that it is like a natural air conditioning system. Our quality of lives could be improved if we stay on a few more days.
We enjoyed the short jungle trekking without guide.. It was fun and not too difficult. Please remember to wear proper shoes as it can be muddy at some point coz it rains constantly there. The rain is so refreshing as well.
All in all, both of us enjoyed our stay there. Feeling refreshed, renewed and rejuvenated without having the stress of checking our phone for messages, emails and calls. We need such getaway once in a while. I only used my phone for taking photos.

A friend & I enjoyed 2 nights in the Riverside cabin. The cabin is rustic but has everything you need including ensuite with a nice warm shower. I recommend earplugs at night as the rushing river & jungle sounds are loud.
The resort is a very unique place to unwind, unplug and recharge, just over an hr from KL. Hammocks, jungle walks, tubing or lazing in the clean river. We went white water rafting (with a separate company) which was very fun. The home cooked food was tasty and plentiful & the staff are very friendly & efficient. Michelle, the owner is a lovely lady who enjoys getting to know her guests. A fantastic, back to basics getaway in the beautiful, serene jungle.

The Sticks is a special place in the rainforest. This is our 3rd visit and every time its been an energizing and refreshing experience.
The Riverside Tendok is our choice as its perfect for a couple and has its own private access to the river. Tip : When you go down the steps, walk to the right and you'll find a lovely sandy bank where you can swim in.
What makes this place special compared to the other rainforest retreats is the hospitality and home cooked food. Michelle and Rubin are such lovely hosts who make us feel so welcome every time. And the food! From steamboat to bbq dinner to home cooked lunches served in tiffin carriers, we really feel like its home away from home.
Do note that there is no reception and no internet, which makes it a perfect place for those of us tired of the concrete jungle to connect with nature.

A good weekend stay at ‘The Sticks’. We booked the ‘Nest’ tenduk by the river. May not be the choice for everyone as the rapids is pretty loud. Michelle and Rubin are great host. Friendly staff too. Michelle even arranged a muhibbah ‘lou sang’ for all the guest as it’s Chinese New Year. Breakfast, lunch, tea treats and dinners were all yummy. We went night exploring nearby for fireflies at the riverside and at the suspension bridge. Saw some huge spider webs. My children learned some species of plants there. We also went jungle trekking for an hour. Didn’t have any issues with mozzies the whole time there. Not to be missed is the white water rafting (by arrangement), and tubing by the river.

Such a lovely overnight stay at the sticks with friendly staff, clean cabins and great food. Would recommend. The vibe is just what we wanted, as in a jungle getaway with mobile phones only out for photo taking . Our children (aged 7 years ) enjoyed the self guided short trek and loved the swimming/tubing in the river - although the river is a bit shallow for any long tube trips on it.
If you have time there is a famous waterfall nearby a walk away - ask the staff for directions. although it’s well visited we missed going as didn’t realize it was there!
Too tip, If you go mid week the resort is very quiet and you won’t be disturbed by the KL weekenders.

It is a good place to relax and unwind. We stayed in a small hut with a private walkway to the river and the sound of water cascading down the rocks.
Food was fabulous and enough for two of us with BBQ for dinner and English breakfast for breakfast. BBQ is done by the ultra friendly staff.
We hiked the only 1.2km route available and tubing in the river after.
The only qualms are the irritating sound of rain ( it was raining at night) falling onto the canvas roof. Also the insects in the hut ( although they have insects netting with zip-up covering) do no justice. I do not have a good sleep but a good experience.
The place is off the grid. So Internet is limited to celcom & digi network only. But you can purchase internet access at RM60 for 1GB quota which I think it is too much although you are suppose to get away from the internet and enjoy the nature.

A hidden gem in a beautiful location. The Sticks and their wonderful staff ticked all the boxes for a great getaway from KL and a simple and wholesome weekend break.
Nestled in secondary rainforest the accommodation was simple but tasteful and perfect for its role, food was wonderful and plentiful.
Plus jungle trekking and a private section of river offered a change to get both hot and sweaty and then cool off.
A special mention to all the staff who were very professional and attentive.
Highly recommended!
