We stayed there just for a night but it was great! We had a spacious room that was very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Upon our arrival, the friendly lady at the reception informed us that there is a hot tub available and we rushed for it! We were in the (naturally) hot water and it started snowing heavily. It...

It was one of the worst guest houses we booked on our trip. Room was not in line with the pictures online. Functional is a good description. We ate an overpriced tasteless dinner there. All in all if felt like a money making activity with no heart in it. We had mich nicer experiences on our trip.

As all hotels and guesthouses in Iceland have similarities so I will just comment on what lakes this place a little different. The room we had was the biggest one over our two weeks. The shower was hot and the water pressure great. The outside hot tub was big and the flow through water a good temperature. Storulaugar has its...

My rating is relative to the other places we stayed while in Iceland - here's a summary of what we found: After staying in seven hotels in Iceland over a two week period it occurred to me that they all have certain things in common. I’ve decided to list those commonalities in each review then mention any departure therefrom with...

Stórulaugar is my go-to accommodations whenever I am in the Mývatn area. The owner Elín ensures that everything is taken care of and in turn she earns my loyalty. The rooms are large enough and comfortable, with private bathroom. There is a refrigerator in the corridor outside the room that is available for use. Breakfast is excellent and during the...

The room was pretty basic but still nice. Finally we got to enjoy a big bathroom. LOL. But everything else was okay. We didn't get to try the hot tub cos it was so so cold and raining all day and night long while we were there.

It comprises three buildings two of which are separate from reception. The two separate lodgings each have a hot tub which is great to sit in after a day out. It is about 25km from Myvatn so just that little bit cheaper (if there is such a thing in Iceland). The room was fine, not small, but you can clearer...

We were assigned to a room above the reception. It was very small--the smallest room we had out of 9 accommodations. The neighbor's shutting doors and walking was felt completely in our room. The room had a great bathroom and nothing else to recommend it. The curtains were ridiculous. This cotton striped pieces of cloth that you cannot move on...

Nice host, nice house, nice views, nice dinner, nice breakfast, nice room, hot pot - everything you need from a guesthouse in Iceland. A perfect place to sleep between Akureyri and Myvatn, really recommended.

Beautiful guesthouse located in Laugar. Rooms were equipped with kettle and tea, beds comfortable and location perfect to explore Myvatn and Husavik. Has a lovely hot pot for guests and horses you can pet. Breakfast was delicious and included local smoked Arctic char. Elin was a welcoming host when we arrived and made sure our stay was comfortable. One of...
