Great experience. Would definitely return again. Check in was super easy and loved the cookie. Room was clean. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet. I loved the friendly staff. Everyone we walked by greeted us with a smile. Also enjoyed the spa. It was VERY affordable and relaxing. The spa rooms and bathrooms could use an upgrade though. The vibe of the hotel feels like you are in the middle of the country, not 15 minutes from the airport. I felt safe walking around even at night. Close proximity to a grocery store and restaurants. Ubers were fairly cheap and comes quick. So glad I choose to stay here and not in the main city of San Jose.

We stayed here for 12 days after a touring holiday of Costa Rica due to several flight cancellations due to the coronavirus. From the moment we arrived at the hotel after a very stressful few hours at the airport the manager greeted us and asked if there was anything they could do to help to let them know which was lovely. Everyday the staff checked in on us with their friendly smiles which really helped us deal with a very difficult time of not knowing if and when we were getting home. We were very impressed with the way the hotel dealt with the virus - cleaning was constant around the hotel and hand sanitiser everywhere. The rooms are lovely we had 3 different ones during our visit. The restaurant is excellent and the breakfast is very good - very big portions. Great facilities we were able to use the pool for a few days before it had to be closed and there is a real tropical feel to the place even though you are in a city. It is ideally situated near the airport and also there is a supermarket and restaurants a few meters away. We hope to go back sometime in better circumstances.

We needed a hotel near the airport upon our arrival at SJO and utilized points to secure the room. From there we were offered an upgrade to a larger room for a fee. This also included breakfast in the executive lounge and we were very pleased with that. Overall, the hotel was a nice option and we thought the staff was very welcoming and helpful. The women working the concierge desk could use a little more training on helping guests book restaurants. The pool area was nice and well maintained and included a hot tub. Free parking is available and in the same parking lot is a small strip mall with a grocery store and juice bar. The downfall is that there isn't much else in the area so unless you're traveling on business this might not be the ideal option for you for a vacation spot. If I needed a hotel in the area again I would certainly stay again.

This was my second time staying at this hotel. I chose to stay here for this trip because its a nice hotel, it's close to the airport, and they provide free shuttle service starting at 4:00AM for early flights. For our 7:00AM flight, we took the 5:00AM shuttle and were at the airport in 5 minutes.
The rooms are clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Everything you expect in a nice hotel. The hotel's gift shop has a good selection of souvenirs and they are usually offering a special (buy 2 items, get one free).

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights at this hotel – it was the fifth leg of our tour of Guatemala and Costa Rica. We had asked for a quiet room – we were situated on an upper floor at the end of a long walkway so there was no passing foot traffic. The room itself was spacious and tastefully furnished. The bedroom had an additional settee and arm chair. There was also an ante room which could serve as an office. The bathroom had a reasonably sized bath with a shower over – again plenty of room. It was reassuring to have a large safe to secure our valuables. The breakfast buffet was a disappointment – the food on offer was dull in our opinion and the hustle and bustle of the multitudes trying to use it was off-putting. We also ate dinner in the restaurant – the food was variable and service was slow.
The hotel scores on its proximity to the airport which meant that we didn’t have to travel into the busy city to explore the attractions nearby.

Booked 2 nights at the Doubletree Cariari because we had a late night arrival into SJO and they have free airport shuttles until 1:30am. Didn’t realize they were more like a resort than an airport hotel with room service until 3am. We were expecting to starve our first night since we checked in at 1am, so that was a pleasant surprise. Full breakfast buffet complete with omelette bar. Lovely pool area with both pool and hot tub. 2nd floor rooms overlooking the pool have balcony patios, while the 1st floor pool rooms have direct pool access and go straight into the pool area. Beautiful colonial style design in the rooms and grounds. Walking distance to a grocery store, bank branch for ATM withdrawals, and different restaurants including sushi, Chinese food, and pizza. The hotel definitely exceeded expectations and is much more than an airport hotel. Highly recommend.

I had a few days off and decided to stay at the Doubletree Cariari by Hilton. I'm a big fan of their 2x1 breakfasts, and usually visit once a month, plus the Christmas and new years dinners they organize yearly.
As a woman visiting on my own and in light of recent events in Costa Rica with a few hotels, I felt incredibly safe here. I saw familiar faces in the staff which made me feel even more comfortable.
The hotel might be a bit old and classic, but to be honest, the service is always so good, and they're so kind every time that I can really let go the architecture and infrastructure.
Mr. Salvador, Edwin, Don Orlando, Esteban and Ramón are amazing,and I'm very happy to see them still working considering how rough covid has hit our tourism! Please keep them forever! 💯
Food was amazing as always, although I would definitely recommend to forgo the tomato sauce in the quesadilla. Natural is better.
Due to covid the hotel didn't have its usual buffet breakfast, but a la carte menu was very good too!
All in all, I feel very comfortable and happy with the few days I stayed, and would definitely recommend it if you are going with family or solo, and just want to get some rest.
The gym is also open, so don't be like me. Take your running shoes and get some exercise!
Suggestions: after covid it would be nice to have a mini fridge. I personally like to go out and buy snacks and stuff, and sometimes I need the fridge. Right now it would be too expensive for the business, but eventually that'd be nice ☺️
I hope locals and foreigners visit again soon, take all the precautions necessary (which the hotel is doing!) and enjoy their stay the same way I did.

As a HH Diamond member, I was very disappointed with this property. I booked two rooms for our last night before an early morning flight back to the US. Check in was terrible and I was not welcomed as a Diamond member nor were my benefits offered by this property clearly explained considering the executive lounge wasn’t available. Their staff needs more training in customer service and the hotel seemed understaffed, especially in the restaurant area. I was extremely disappointed with room 2051 & 2053 with the worst views possible. I am not sure why they assigned such terrible rooms to a Diamond member. We did not ask to move to different rooms because we were leaving early anyway to fly home. At 4:30 PM we went down to the restaurant to order dinner and the bartender was very rude when we asked for a table. Francisco was our server and he was nice but had way too many tables to provide good service. He and one other waiter appeared to have all of the tables combined. He brought us complimentary bottles of Imperial beer at 5pm from the HH reception and the complimentary nachos (they were cold upon arrival and I was concerned about food safety). Despite the very slow service which was not our waiters fault, when our dinner finally did arrive, the food was excellent. I highly recommend the Casado typical style dinner and the Fish Ceviche! We enjoyed our dinner despite being in the restaurant over two hours! After dinner we went back to our rooms to go to sleep early in preparation for a very early AM departure. Unfortunately, a very wild group of hotel guests started partying and doing shots in the tiki hut directly in front of our rooms. Lots of screaming followed as they repeatedly drank shots… we heard, uno, dos, tres, and then lots if screaming over and over again in what appeared to be a college fraternity party taking place. After multiple calls to the front desk, the hotel finally got it under control. This property, if given a little TLC to the rooms, and more training to the staff, has potential to be much better. The room cleanliness needs improvement. We had mold in the shower tile grout and caulk and visible dirt in the bathroom floor corners and under the vanity. Another area that needs improvement is the early departure breakfast box - I asked for a box with some papaya or local fruit and they said no, only offering a meat and cheese sandwich and apple option. Why say no to such a simple request for fruit that they already have on hand that would make a guest happy? This stay was the first negative experience I have ever had in my 6 trips to CR. Stay at the Marriott Hacienda Belen for a superior experience that is in another league to this hotel.

I have stayed at the DoubleTree Cariari many times for business purposes and have always enjoyed my stay there. The hotel staff is always lovely and the rooms are clean. There is a grocery store nearby and a couple restaurants as well. It's very close to the airport, which is a bonus, and they have recently introduced a free shuttle service. It's definitely a good hotel for business travel or if you're passing through San Jose. If you're looking for something that feels like a big resort, this isn't that place for that type of experience.
I most recently stayed here for a couple of nights when passing through San Jose with my parents as part of my father's 60th Birthday and it was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived at check-in, the staff was friendly and wonderful. As we were celebrating a birthday, my parents' room was decorated when we arrived and it was so cute. My father was so excited. Big thank you to Kimberly for helping coordinate thee birthday set up in the room.
On this trip and previous trips, I've also planned quite a few tours and transportation setups with the Tour Desk. The staff has always been very helpful and has worked hard to ensure I could get everything set up as needed. Another big thank you Michael for helping me coordinates tours and transpo on my most recent visit.
Overall, it's an affordable, lovely and comfortable hotel with equally lovely staff.

My stay at the Doubletree by Hilton was wonderful. Camilo made sure I was taken care of my booking all of my activities and assisting me with anything else I needed. This was very helpful she nice I was solo. My room was cleaned every day and I also witness the grounds being cleaned/sanitized daily. I also enjoy my massage and it was very affordable. I would highly recommend staying at the Doubletree it is worth the price and more.
