My stay at Verdesana was a beautiful experience in a nature sanctuary that has somehow managed to create the perfect balance between being truly immersed in nature and enjoying the comforts of a luxury stay. As a remote freelancer, I still had to do get some work done during my visit (yes, there is great wifi there), but had plenty of time to disconnect and just enjoy the beautiful, peaceful scenery around me. I was also inspired to continue writing my book, which had been on hold for a while but is my life's current passion project. Everything there feels like it's been created with care and love. The landscaping is beautiful with an abundance of flowers that attract many hummingbirds. The cabins, restaurant, and yoga studio have all been built by the Verdesana family and are simply gorgeous. I also couldn't stop raving about the food while I was there. I am honestly shedding a tear right now missing the meals I had there. The dishes were always fresh, healthy, and tasty, as well as very unique. Getting to speak with the owner Juan, I know that Verdesana has strong values in upholding sustainable practices, which is also an important principle for me. I met a few guests while there, and they all said they loved their stay. Some were there for yoga, some to bird watch, and others were stopping over on their El Camino hike. The commonality is a love for nature and an appreciation for the special energy that Verdesana offers to its guests. I had an awesome time there and hope to be back sooner rather than later. Go experience your own visit to paradise and get recharged and inspired!

Verdesana is so close to San Jose that we were able to go for 2 nights, leaving after we got off work on Friday afternoon. Even though it's close to the city, it really is like a different world. The mountains here are huge and rolling, covered in pine trees and rainy afternoons are actually welcome - it's the perfect cozy place to enjoy views of the mist rising in the valley and the changing landscape. The cabins themselves, though described as "rustic," are incredibly clean, and with a modern twist. The shower is hot, and the beds are clearly new (and SO comfortable). They each have a sitting area and balcony and an amazing amount of birds that visit in the morning.

My husband went trail running on the surrounding trails and loved the terrain, but the highlight for me was their gorgeous restaurant and yoga shala. We wanted a weekend to "unplug" and it was perfect: we did a fantastic intermediate yoga class as well as a "sound journey" with gongs, singing bowls, and the sound of the river behind us. All of this combined with daily meals, prepared for our vegan diet (with tons of ingredients from their own gardens!) made for the perfect "reset."

We love having a place close to home that we can tell friends about, retreat to when we need to unwind, and plan to visit again in the future.

Thank you Verdesana for an amazing stay and for the fresh food, good vibes, and amazing nights sleep!

Verdesana Forest lodge is such a lovely therapeutic respite worth finding in the mountains. We stayed only one night while on the El Camino De Costa Rica Trail with our hiking tour Cordillera Adventures, traveling mar de mar. The property construction and grounds look brand new and very well kept by lovely owners. There are cabins with comfortable beds, large hot water showers and clean facilities.
We took a yoga class that was perfect stretching after our long hiking days and also very relaxing. The yoga center was simply gorgeous space located down the hill in lovely landscapes. The onsite restaurant was lovely space with large fireplace and a cute bar. We enjoyed all of our meals here, one of the best locations we stayed in for our hike, I could imagine returning to take in more yoga sessions and day hiking this area again, as it is close to a lovely section of the El Camino as well as this property itself has lovely trails of it's own to boot.

We stayed one night at Verdesana Lodge, while hiking on the Camino de Costa Rica. Without a doubt, it was the most stunning place we stayed during our hike. The setting, the cabins, the river running through the area, the food, hospitality, everything was perfect. And the owner was a lovely man who loves Costa Rica and loves the people who travel through his area. He helped to make everything just right.

We were only able to experience this place for one evening but it was spectacular! The cabins are built of the highest quality. The grounds are beautiful! The host and his team are all very friendly. The food was amazing and presented in a very professional manner. Hopefully we can get back to Costa Rica and enjoy this lodge once again.

The hospitality and attention to detail here is wonderful! It’s new and the owner has crafted beautiful cabins, yoga space, and a restaurant/lodge. The landscaping has already attracted many birds, and we saw 10 species of hummingbirds in a short time. Many beautiful trails, a swiftly moving river. The owner has many plans and dreams so it will only be getting better. Off the beaten track, but worth the effort. Hike or just sit and watch the clouds transform the mountains.

I stayed here with my friend for three nights and I cannot wait to go back. Verdesana is a beautiful ecolodge surrounded by forest in the mountains of Costa Rica, it's the perfect place if you're looking for something off the beaten track and authentic. I went to sleep every night to the sound of the river that runs through the property, and woke up to the sounds of the birds. The food was absolutely incredible - so fresh and flavourful - and the yoga classes were the perfect mix of relaxation and work out. It's the perfect place to disconnect, quiet your mind, and absorb the peace around you. The gardens are bursting with colour, and the hiking trails are so beautiful - definitely a photographer's dream! I cannot wait to come back and visit Verdesana again.
