We stayed here for 3 nights in two of the chalet rooms. Beds were very comfortable and the rooms clean and as well as having tea and coffee making facilities, bottles of water were supplied every day which was very much appreciated in the warm weather. Good shower in the bathroom and one very positive point - the hot water...

We rang the hotel direct and asked for a twin room. It was £75 without breakfast. We wanted somewhere near Colchester, not too close, with parking. It is less than ten minutes drive into town. You will see rooms that face onto the carpark, these must be the double rooms that are newly decorated and slightly more expensive. When we...

Stayed here with friends to visit Constable Country and surrounds. A very warm welcome and we stayed in the annex which was fine. Loved the bed and the large bath towels which were changed daily. A nice touch to have bottles of water in our rooms which were replenished each day. We ate 2 of the three nights here and...

This place felt like a trip back to the 1980's. Perfectly clean and well maintained but service levels and overall offering reminded me of my time on the road towards the end of the last century. This was most apparent when we arrived for breakfast - no food of any kind in site, certainly no buffet offering of cereals and...

Thanks goodness we stumbled upon this wonderful pub! We would have been grateful for anything to eat having cycled from Harwich but thanks to Michelle and Rob we had one of the best breakfasts ever. We were made very welcome even though they were only doing breakfast for their guests. This is a great area to explore by bike and...

Looking for somewhere new to dine my wife an I decided to put Sunday Lunch on trial at the Court House. After closely examining Tomato Soup and Breaded Camembert followed by Steak and Ale Pie and Roast Pork we found the defendants totally innocent and devoid of anything but the finest flavours, ingredients and textures. The portions were ample and...

Eaten here many times now. Many visitors to my business stay and eat here too. It's a great place to stay and eat. A really nice friendly pub. The food is always good and the service is always excellent. Always busy mid week when I go - which is another good sign. Good value too
