We have stayed here several times when the hotel was a De Vere. The last few times the level of service had dropped slightly but this was our first visit since the hotel became part of the Q hotel chain. The service seems to have improved and we were satisfied with our visit. We booked this stay last minute on...

PEOPLE WILL ONLY PAY HIGH PRICES IF THE QUALITY AND SERVICE IS THERE AND UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS NOT!!!!!! We have visited here before at christmas for family get togethers and never had any faults but this visit was truly terrible in so many ways. Certain reception staff very unhelpfull and rude. Over priced food, over priced drinks, Drinks served in...

Visited Slaley on the 21st December for an Anniversary Stay. Had lunch in the main bar area, used the Gym and the pool and generally relaxed. Excellent room, nicely decorated and some excellent features including a Bose sound dock and large selection of Sky TV channels. Excellent breakfast with a great view over the golf course. Staff were very friendly...

We visited for a relaxing pre-Christmas stay. While booking in at reception the staff were friendly and helpful. I found my room was very comfortable and was much larger than I had expected. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal and the staff were always attentive. At breakfast we had plenty of choice. On booking out the next day the snow...

The staff all seemed more interested in gossiping with each other than actually doing any work! We waited for around 20 minutes to check in. One member of staff checked guests in while two stood talking toeach other about their plans for the weekend. The impression of the hotel from the outsideis great but the interior of the hotel is...

We stayed as 3 families at Slaley Hall for my husbands 40th birthday. The golf & the spa were lovely & we really enjoyed the facilities. However the service and quality of food, for what meant to be a 4/5 star hotel was very poor. We were so disappointed that we did complain to reception, who kindly as a good...

My husband and I visited Dukes Bar & Grill at the weekend to share a traditional afternoon cream tea. The venue is a lovely place to sit and relax. The service here was a cut above other venues we've sampled cream teas (there has been numerous) and the whole experience was rather more decadent without being stuffy. Although the room...

Myself husband and two friends booked afternoon tea in the dukes grill within slaley hall hotel and i have to say it is a really beautifully decorated and comfortable room, with really welcome high backed comfortable chairs, which I personally love as I tire of the hard backed chairs in most tea rooms and restaurants and i often end up...

Had a spa day here today. Reception staff were very friendly and professional. The changing room and pool areas were spotless with plenty of loungers. Unfortunately there was an aqua class on when we arrived so quite a large section of the pool was roped off, so we simply went in the sauna, steam room and hot tub instead! Afternoon...

We enjoyed our stay at Slaley Hall when we stayed at the weekend for a family wedding at Healey Barn. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Not 100, not 500 but 1000 acres of Northumberland moorland and forest play home to this magnificent, elegant Edwardian mansion. That the interiors are almost as dramatic as the exterior says it all. This is very old world grandeur with a modern twist. Bask in the warmth of the reception you receive on arrival, dine at Hadrian's Brasserie, or at the Duke's Grill. Indulge with a Vichy water spa treatment or just flop in the fantastic indoor pool. The great outdoors doesn’t get much greater. After a bracing country walk in the wilds, or round on our championship golf course, retire to the Claret Jug and the 19th Bar for a stiff brandy. Surely you deserve it ? ... more   less
