Planning a late night in town, I contacted the Occidental and was promised an en-suite room (most rooms have shared bathrooms). Arriving at 4 pm, I was informed that someone else had been given the en-suite room. When I protested, the staff offered to relocate the guests from my room when they returned, and then give the room to me....

Attedended the front bar of this establishment recently with friends prior to attending another restaurant. Good selection of beers, great vibe and very reasonable prices for a city pub. Would return again.

A wonderful quaint little pub offering the best there is in fine Italian cuisine. The food was excellent and the staff wonderful! Great place to spend an evening dining and drinking with co-workers. Highly recommend!

A lively and authentic establishment, I had a really great time in here the other week, it was like a little slice of Sicily in my mouth and nose. I recommend the Guinness with a tortellini chaser Gets quite busy around 4:30

Bad food and rude kitchen wouldn't order food here again. Had the occy club and it had one tiny piece of chicken and soggy tomato. The worst burger hands down. Friends had other food and weren't impressed. Won't be back for food. Can't say much else.

While in Sydney, I had intended to attend a meeting at the Occidental Hotel - regular meeting held there. Due to an extremist left leaning group's objection to free speech, the speaker to that meeting was refused by management. What an affront to FREE SPEECH. The left leaning speakers demand their extreme views are heard but refuse to listen to...

We have stayed here twice...and a third time was cancelled by the hotel. The first time we stayed we requested the ensuite room that has Air Conditioning - there is only one room with air conditioning, and perhaps 2 with their own bathrooms - this first stay was relatively pleasant for what it was. The second stay was hubby on...

We booked three rooms, two of which did not have en suite facilities, my room 32 did have. The shower/toilet facilities are however, adjacent to the rooms and are clean and adequate. The rooms are not air conditioned but the large, old, sash windows open up and we got a lovely cool breeze...the hot water took a long time to...

Stayed here, was very old and basic, was an adventure! Was an old school boarding type hotel with out of room bathroom and a pub downstairs. Loved it. Cheap and well situated. Not a couples place per se, but was good for a single guy!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
