I purchased a 'Executive Grand Harbour View Suite' at $630.32 online direct with the hotel it's self and received a view of traffic. There is nothing grand about this room you cannot even see the harbour only traffic! The room was not ready and we had to wait 2 hours. Club Level food has improved since our last stay. The...

Although the hotel has a rating of 5 stars, we were disappointed. The room was very good as was the location. We were looking forward to dinner in the main restaurant, Altitude, which has beautiful views over the harbour. Unfortunately, the food was a major disappointment. In our month trip through Australia this was our most expensive meal but also...

Simply amazing views great location excellent customer service. Can't speak highly enough of the customer service. I would come back in an instant. This is a great facility. Go for the grand harbour view it is so worthwhile. We really enjoyed the horizon club benefits.

Great location with friendly, helpful staff. Clean, modern and fantastic views (with the right room). Situated close to the harbour within walking distance of great pubs and restaurants. Also near to underground railway and ferries.

Having spent 6 nights at the Park Hyatt, this was a big climbdown. There were long queues at checkin with fairly indifferent staff. I had read that the breakfast wasn't good value so we ate both mornings at one of the many local restaurants. The location is very good as Circular Quay & the Opera House are within easy walking...

Arrival and Check In process seemed like a battle. Had to follow up on room readiness from 3:00( Shangri-La's check-in time ) till 3:45. Got updates like room is being cleaned, supervisor approval on cleanliness required at my cost. Had to request them several times to get luggage to my room which I finally received after an hour. (4.30).

Great hotel and amenities. Bathroom could have done with a more thorough clean but the L'Occitan products and view of the Sydney opera house from my room was spectacular! Great one nighters for a conference.

Very helpful staff. A busy but good hotel. Breakfast is good. Good location. Hotel top bar is disappointing because it is too hot and views are not close to 360 degrees. Good rooms. Maybe too many attempts at seeing if you want something. Good views of harbor from many rooms--- and harbor is best this big city has to offer.

A lot of the traffic through this hotel are tour groups and people going to and coming from cruise ships. The service is quite clearly geared in that direction, so if you are looking for any form of individualised or personal service it might not be the best choice. The lobby more resembles a bit of a busy bus station,...

We spent 4 nights here early January 2017, arrived early 7-30 but room was not available until 2-30 pm. 12 th floor expensive room but stunning views. Room smelt a bit musty but clean and comfortable, shower had two broken floor tiles, no bathroom scales, no toilet brush. Staff were friendly enough but nothing special. Plenty of eating areas outside...

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
