Didn't particularly enjoy my stay at Dury as I didn't really like the Kings Cross area. The hostel itself was a bit dirty and run down, the owners weren't very friendly at all and the communal kitchen was tiny. There was however wifi which was good but we were only able to access a certain amount a day so always...

I stayed here and found the owners very nice but elusive, who cares. I found the place a little grubby but what backpackers isnt to some level. I found the Asian backpackers to be just lovely, some I'd heave liked to kick and lots I found great. Its in the heart of a red light district so dont expect Waldorf,...

I enjoyed my stay at the Dury hostel. It was great having always access to free rice, toast with spread and tea. Internet is also included but the daily data is limited. The people I met there were easy going. The location is good. There are a lot of stores nearby. The price was reasonable.

The hostel is in a really dodgy area of Sydney. I didn't feel safe walking there in the day time. It isn't much cheaper than much nicer hostels and is run down and filthy, not a place you want to hang out. They offer free breakfast but everything was so dirty I wouldn't have touched it. I don't know how...

Stayed at Dury House for about 2 weeks right in the Backpacker district Kings Cross close to the Train Station. Had a 6 bed dorm for 23$/night (125$/week). They even put me on the weekly rate for the rest of the week and let me stay in the spacious room just by myself because they moved people downstairs for renovation....

Nothing at all bad to say about this place. It's not the most modern of hostels but it's VERY clean, dirt cheap, free wifi that actually works, has free rice, bread, jams, teas and coffees on 24/7, my room has a nice clean en suite with a good shower, the beds are clean and comfortable and has foxtel. Everything you...

Arrived late to find the front door locked. Not what you want when you're right in the middle of the red light district! Had to keep banging on the doors until someone let us in even though we had told them our arrival time. Everyone in there looked like they had been smoking something for definite! The rooms were dirty...

I recently spent 1 week at this hostel. Roy at the front desk was nice enough to wait for me to check in after 11PM. The hostel rates are cheap compared to others around Sydney, and the location makes for easy access when getting around by train or bus. There is a library next door, and a variety of stores...

We arrived in Dury House after spending 32 dollars a night in an awful hostel on Forbes Street, down the hill from here, and we couldn't believe how much better it was! Our weekly rate for an 8 bed dorm worked out around 18dollars a night, which is amazing considering we're here at the start of peak season and everywhere...

We stayed for two months whilst working in Sydney. The owner is very friendly and kept dropping the price each week from $120 - $100 by week 3. This was the best we found locally at the time. Dorms are 8 or 6 bed. Each has a fridge and bathroom attached. They get cleaned every day. The place is a...

Staying in Kings Cross

Neighbourhood Profile
Kings Cross
Changing liquor laws are remodeling "The Cross," Sydney's red light district. These new rules have encouraged trendy cafes and boutiques to pop-up in the area, as well as organic markets on Saturdays. The area's nightclubs are still popular with youngsters, however, who will dance to the early morning hours on weekend nights. There are plenty of artifacts from Kings Cross' shady past when gangsters and liquor houses owned the place. Today, one can still find a variety of adult entertainment venues in this evolving area.
