By sheer luck 'found' 'The Fish Shop' almost opposite the hotel and had 2 very good meals there. Well located to walk through the Botanical gardens, around the bay and to Sydney Opera House. Charming, upmarket quiet road. Parking was only downside, but overcame this by taking rental car back to the airport early and walking or taking the tube.

Had a wonderful stay at Challis as room and location were excellent for our holiday in Sydney. There are plenty of eateries and bars near by. The botanical garden, Circular Key and The Rocks are a short walk away.

The rooms were $300 a night. The room was so small that the door hit the frame of the bed when I opened it. No soap or conditioner, only shampoo provided. Towels were placed directly above the toilet, increasing the chance of them falling into the toilet.

I have stayed at The Challis on six seperate occasions and also recommended it to friends. It is the perfect intercity hotel for the price. The nearby cafes and restaurants are varied and interesting - the whole area has a good feel about it . It is also a convenient and beautiful walk into town , through the Botanic gardens.

The rooms should be rented only for one visitor as they are very small and uncomfortable. The hotel takes grades from the kindness of its staff. The cleanliness could be better but overall it was not the weak point of the hotel.

A great little hotel in a great location. Walking distance to The Botanical Gardens, CBD, Boy Charleton pool and the harbour. There a re a number of good restaurants and cafes right on the street. It was worth the extra money to book a front room with french doors onto the balcony. Bathroom was quite new and very clean. Shower...

Great location. Easy access to the city and the Potts Point/Kings Cross precinct. Rooms are small and additional linen would be good but overall the rooms were comfortable and private. Pleasant staff. Very enjoyable stay

We had a room with a balcony, not sure if it was worth the extra money we paid. Picked this hotel because it had self-service laundry facilities but there was a cleaners on the corner that did laundry for 10 dollars a bag could have dropped it there.
