We've done both the Ocean Freedom one day trip and the Reef Encounter two-day liveaboard trip. If you only have one day in Cairns, then maybe a one-day trip is for you, but I would HIGHLY recommend trying to get two days, and going on the Reef Encounter liveaboard. For the price of your housing and food over two days,...

Joining 'Reef Encounter' we were immediately taken with the genuine warmth and family-like atmosphere of the boat. The crew are young and enthusiastic and keen to help in any way they can. There isn't an option to adjust the cabin temperature and the cabins are on the cold side but the beds are comfortable (if just a little short for...

I always adjust my expectation when going on a liveaboard with primarily divers. That turned out to be unnecessary in GBR. The reefs always have shallow and deep areas, and the crews give a briefing at each dive/snorkeling site so we know where to go. GBR is amazing so definitely try to get in the water more than once, each...

Great diving, great food and staff! The room that we stayed in was very cold so if you feel the temperature make sure you pack warm clothes. Was nice to defrost in the hot tub after each of our dives!

We spent 2 days/1 night aboard the Reef Encounter and would recommend it highly. Doing the liveaboard is the only way to ensure you get plenty of dive/snorkel time. We went to three different reef areas during our excursion and could go in three times per day if we wanted; a day trip would not allow you to do this....

To sum up our reef encounter experience it was absolutely EXCELLENT! We spent 2 day/1 night aboard the very comfortable ship. Highly recommend staying aboard overnight as opposed to the day trips they offer in order to maximize your time at the reef. They have options for both snorkel or scuba diving. We went on 5 day dives + 1...

This was part of a two week vacation to Australia, and was hands down the highlight of our trip. We did the 2 night top deck snorkel package plus introductory dives. If you can, I very highly suggest the top deck experience. Rob Welton was our own private guide for the trip, and he is amazing! Rob - if you...

I spent 2 nights aboard the Reef Encounter and have absolutely nothing but praise for the entire experience. The crew was friendly, helpful and very engaging throughout the trip. They made sure everyone was extremely comfortable, well-fed and entertained. The schedule was full, with dives and snorkeling throughout the morning, day and night. Meals were provided on schedule and were...

We spent 3 nights/4 days on board of Reef Encounter. We had a standard room with the best bad ever with fresh towels every day. The room wasn't very big but had a big window with the ocean view. Clean and tidy. The food was great - tasty and with a lot of fresh fruit and home baked desserts every...

... and the crew of Reef Encounter and Reef Experience certainly made our trips with them into fun diving for my Beth and me. The crew were all knowledgeable and friendly, the organisation of multiple dive and snorkel groups was smooth and professional, the briefings were informative, the dives were spectacular, the accommodation was very comfortable (rocking us to sleep...
