What a gorgeous hostel. Everything was beautiful and clean. They were very strict about no food in the rooms to prevent cockroaches, which is excellent. Unfortunately, no lift, so I had to haul my heavy suitcase up a lot of stairs, but by this point in my trip I was getting used to that. Free, reliable wifi. Delightful outdoor common...

Seriously, this is the best hostel where I have stayed in Queensland so far: free shuttle (to and from the ferry terminal), free wifi (and the wifi works!), lockers in rooms, great common area, friendly staff, and, really important, the hostel is really CLEAN! A+

A really lovely hostel with friendly stuff. We shared a double room which was absolutely fine and clean. They have a free shuttle to the ferry terminal so it is easy to go to magnetic Island or to take the greyhound bus. In addition to that you can store your luggage overnight in the hostel and take a smaller bag...

The Civic Guest House makes you feel like home! There's nothing bad to say about that place at all.. It's clean, bright, comfortable and has a very nice area to hang out in the backyard.. The staffs always made us feel like we're part of their 'big family' and we gonna miss all of them.. We've never been at such...

We stayed here in a private room for two nights before our trip to magnetic island and liked it so much we came back for another night afterwards! The rooms are quirky and comfortable with great ceiling fan and even a little mini fridge in the room. The wifi is fast and the best we have had in a hostel...

We stayed at the Civic Backpackers and were very pleased with the overall experience. We stayed in a double room on the first floor. The bed was comfortable, the fridge was useful and it wasn't a party Hostel as such so we got a good nights sleep. The bathrooms could have been cleaner, and two showers for the whole floor...

Me and my partner stayed in a double room. The guest house was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was generally very clean and tidy apart from the first evening. Even though our room was near the reception and communal space, it wasn't too noisy as other guests were considerate and used headphones. It was great to have a fridge in...

This hostel was great, the lady was very kind and helpfull. The free shuttle is lovely! Bed was not great the second stay but in the first days in another room it was superb. The rooms i had where with own bathroom, which is really nice. I would reccomend this hostel for people who are planning to travel to Townsville.
