This is the second time we have stayed at the Aquarius in 3 years. We love the view and the location. Close to cafes, shops and pubs etc. Our first stay on 4th floor was pleasant and this time we got the 7th floor. The view to Magnetic Island is magnificent. The room itself is fine, we had comfortable nights sleep being lulled away by the sound of the ocean. This is not a hotel as such but more of private ownership and managed by the company. It's swings and roundabouts really and I've stayed in other places where there is a lot to be desired. I appreciated the daily room service but frustrated with the wifi. The curtains didn't fit the windows and the sun filter curtains were attached to the block out curtains so you couldn't just use the sun filters when the sun was at its brightess. Lights above the bed were flickering when we arrived which we reported. The staff are excellent and very helpful. It still will be our go to place in Townsville.

I booked this hotel as it was supposed to be one of the better ones in Townsville and it definitely commands excellent views over the water to Magnetic island. Sadly, upon entry to our room on level 4 we found the room to be very dated and the sofa to be very worn. It really wasn’t a very good first impression. I paid a premium for a deluxe room and this was definitely not deluxe. To their credit the staff quickly swapped me to a better room which too is dated but not as bead as the original room. These rooms could be made much better looking with a little bit of investment and TLC

Not what was advertised! Booked a weekend away for our mini honeymoon and first trip interstate for a long time. We arrived to the accommodation to find another guest locked out the building with no help from the management to get back in. When we got off the elevator it smelt like mould and when we entered our room it was nothing even remotely close to that was advertised. Room was old, smelt like mould, had hairs in the sink, ripped dirty sheets on the bed and blankets covered in grime and Light was flicking on and off. It was worse than some old motels that I have stayed in. We didn’t bother to check in, called around to find other lovely accommodation elsewhere for a much better rate. Don’t even bother to stay here, the views look lovely but you can find just as nice views at other hotels in the area.

I stayed on Easter Sunday after spending the previous night on Magnetic Island. Aquarius is the tallest apartment building on the Strand and is perfectly located close to the cafes & the beach. I enjoyed being able to spot the hotel from up on Castle Hill too. For $165 a night the room was decent, with a nice view of the Strand from room 104, and enough space for 2 people. Having to pay for Wifi was disappointing, but I liked being close to the waterfront and had no complaints about anything else. Reception was closed due to reduced hours over the long weekend but the key and instructions to get in were sent well in advance and were easy to follow.

The price is relative to the other strand based accommodation but I was expecting a lot more from the only high rise directly on the beach. Room is clearly out dated & furniture damaged, the bathroom is the most in need of a makeover. I was shocked to find that pool towels need to be paid to hire, WIFI also needed to be paid for, bathroom amenities & tea/coffee were extremely basic. I even noticed a sign advising to take your own rubbish (I could maybe understand the seafood section). Parking is good, we didn’t have any issues. Good for large vehicles. Reception extremely helpful over the phone. Aircon was fantastic & I had a stunning view. Close to seafood restaurants & coffee club. The most frustrating thing I found was the bathroom door, it couldn’t really be closed & even when I struggled to latch it, the door wouldn’t line up anyway. So basically no privacy. Overall, this is a nice place to stop over but unfortunately for a luxury relaxing stay it just doesn’t cut it.
