Don't expect 5 star luxury on this desert island, it's 80km offshore, & the barge only visits once a week for supplies, but what a fabulous relaxing , informative island this is. The beaches surround the island, the off beach snorkeling is fabulous, the resort staff are hugely friendly & well trained, the information center is great... can't give a...

The island is spectacular and was worth the whole day travel from Sydney and the very rough boat trip which made everyone sick, I would suggest even if you do not normally get sea sick to take travel sickness tablets anyway as a precaution. On arrival we were slightly disappointed by how basic the room was but as soon as...

My husband took me for my 50th birthday, it was my choice but I didn't really know what to expect. The island exceeded any expectations I did have. I admit I was a bit overwhelmed by the bird smell at first but soon became used to it. We stayed in a turtle room at the rear. Hardly noticed the bird...

We visited Heron Island as a family for 3 days. Heron Island is very relaxed, amazing, fantastic and beyond your wildest dreams. We snorkelled amongst manta rays, turtles, sharks, rays, and so many other amazingly coloured fish. Definitely a great place to see amazing sea life. The staff on the island are extremely helpful, and proud of what Heron Island...

I think Heron Island is beautiful place to visit a nature reserve with birdlife in abundance and probably great marine life too. I say "probably" because we were very unlucky with the weather while we were there - it was blowing 30 knots every day and mostly cloudy with quite a bit of rain as well. I tried snorkeling once...

We decided to head back to Heron Island for a second trip in April and take the oldies with us. We took the sea plane over - amazing! the pilot was awesome and the views UNBELIEVABLE!! A little disappointed this time as the place seemed a bit tired, the staff seemed overworked and not as friendly but most of the...

The babble of the birds is with you all the time but I would love to be back on Heron now. They are there morning noon & night, peeking in the door, running in at the slightest opportunity, curious creatures.

There was plenty to do throughout the week for my mother in her 80th year and myself. No shortage of sea life in the oceanic garden...just gorgeous to reef walk, snorkel & semi submersible. Even saw our green turtle hatchling and many baby birds...who make noise but do sleep at night. It is an educational playground with wonderful hospitality in...

Breathtakingly beautiful place, will return for longer next time. A little expensive whilst there but didn't put us off. Book a sea view room, the views are stunningly beautiful. Not the place to be if your scared of birds but the wildlife is amazing.

We had a great week on Heron Island. It is the perfect way to experience the southern reef and a completely safe environment for our 2 children. It is the most relaxed we have felt in years. The ability to snorkel straight from the beach is perfect for less experienced swimmers and children learning. The dive and snorkel boats to...
