Loved it, came 10 yrs ago and I think this time was a better experience for us. Nothing has changed, rooms or layout, probably needs updating.... Bar was great, music and setting awesome. Food this time was very average and needs attention, but really you come for the wildlife and setting. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and even... More

Fantastic location and pretty good accommodation. Staff are great and generate a very comfortable feeling amongst guests. If you are after "luxury accommodation" then this is not your place....but if you want to be able to see rays, sharks and turtles as you wander along pristine sand, snorkel amongst coral and reef fish right off the beach, and get to... We stayed a week at Heron Island Resort in a "Reef" room, one step up from the base "Turtle" rooms. The room had beds for three, was spacious and quite comfortable, although sparsely furnished, and had a view of the sea and beach from its balcony (it was upstairs in a block of 6). It was not air-conditioned but there... More

A Wonderful relaxing holiday swimming with turtles, rays and sharks and an array of colourful fish. Watching turtles lay their eggs and make their way back to the waters edge - witnessing this was a moving experience. The Bird life was extremely noisy but wonderful when you know what it means after having gone the bird walking tour. Some may find... More

Visited Heron Island on a work Xmas party November 2016. Wow it really is a paradise, pristine water, wonderful sea life and excellent snorkelling to see it all. The accommodation is very basic and if you get the chance to book a waterfront unit do so. We were put up the back which was hot (no air con) and very... More

Our cabin was basic but adequate and clean, we could watch a new family of 'rails' (birds) from our bathroom window and the bird life in general is amazing. The meals were great and the activities were wonderful. The staff of young people fro many countries were helpful and friendly. We were there during turtle egg laying season and we... More

Location speaks for itself - allows for a relaxing holiday indulging in the beauty of nature. The abundant night chorus lulled us to a restful slumber - for some folk though you may want to consider ear plugs. There are plenty of complimentary activities - guided walks include those to the Research Station, Reef at low tide, Birds, National Park.... More

I think that the opportunities brought about by the location of this resort speak for themselves. Really what I want to say is how lovely the staff were. They were so so helpful and friendly and welcoming both on and off duty. I especially wanted to shoutout to Becky and T'Kara behind the bar, Magda in reception, Ingrid in the... More

Just returned from a week on Heron Island - our first visit. What a memorable and magical place. Stayed in a Turtle family room - which was well appointed and comfortable. Tho the decor was somewhat tired - it suited our purposes as we spent most of our time outside snorkelling in the azure blue ocean with turtles, sharks, sting... More
