Recently spent 8 days at the Reef View Hotel. We were a family group of 16 to celebrate an 80th Birthday. The hotel is lovely. Bedrooms are very spacious on the 13th floor. Bathrooms also very large with 2 basins. We understand that the whole Island is very understaffed, but except for clean towels, and our bed being made, nothing else was cleaned. One basin in the bathroom, which I used, was not wiped down once in the 8 days we were there. The bath wasn't touched either, with hair sitting there the whole stay. We had breakfast - which was included - at Sails and at the Reef hotel. A good choice on the menu. Sails was very slow to get a table. Only one staff member taking guest's details, showing them to their table while the queue grew much too long. Surely another staff member should have come to the desk when it was left unattended. Otherwise we loved our stay on the Island and the restaurants at the Marina were mostly great. We had lots of fun on Hamilton Island.…
I travelled with my Son and his family....we had 2 rooms on the 9th floor next to each other. What a fantastic hotel! The room was so spacious! 2 queen beds, table and 4 chairs, 2 armchairs and the biggest bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel! Lovely big bath, separate shower, separate toilet and 2 sinks. We were so comfortable....also a big balcony with plenty of outdoor furniture. They even supplied a fold up clothes rack to put your wet things on. We had breakfast at both Reef jotel and Sails (both included) and they were both delicious and great service. We didn't have to wsit long at all for our food. If you have booked a holiday at Reef View you are in for a treat!
What a place to get a away from the COVID. You could almost forget there is a pandemic , except all the staff wearing masks. We were on the 15th floor with a fantastic view out to the islands and overlooking the beach below. The room was showing its age , but it was still clean and comfortable. The staff at the hotel were great. They seem to be coping quite well with COVID and school holidays. We did not experience much delay at breakfast, and we have no complaints about the service or quality of the food. We made use of both the beach side pool, the beach and the hotel pool, had lunch at Sails , service was great there too. We are early starters and seem to get in before the rush. All the restaurants on the island were booked out, so I would book in advance using the Hayman island app. There are free shuttle buses to one tree hill and the Marina. There are a few take away options on the island as well as an IGA( always a large line during peak periods). Same as cruising, we saw a lot of reserving chairs at the pools , starting as early as 7 am. So grab your chair early if you want a prime position. This is such a nice place when the weather is fine, we had fine weather all except our first afternoon. We were here for 6.5 days. Also book your excursions and water sports early at the tour desk at sails. Overall experience was great. One thing that seemed a bit strange, there seems to be a lack of security and supervision at the pools. We saw several people breaking pool rules with disregard for other people’s safety. Eg . Jumping off the bridge ,adults bomb diving into areas where children were swimming. …
We have stayed at the Reef View Hotel a few times now over the years; this time we stayed in a Coral Sea View King Room on the 13th Floor for 7 nights. First time we have stayed in such a high room. They are much more well appointed than the lower, cheaper Garden View rooms. The king bed was comfortable and the room was cosy. To be honest, we weren't in the room other than a few hours before bed and while we were sleeping. The hotel is dated, but I've never found it unclean. Rooms are serviced daily and done well. Overall, I found the hotel clean and good enough. If you are coming on a holiday to spend a lot of time in the hotel room, I can understand some being disappointed in the rooms, especially in the lower rooms. We've been at a few different times of the year; this trip was just before school holidays. Found it to be not too crowded and plenty of room at pools, however COVID-19 restrictions meant many restaurants and bars were closed or had limited availability, meaning we couldn't eat out without having booked even more than a month in advance which was disappointing on this trip as we did not plan that far ahead. Can't even imagine what the upcoming school holidays will be like; we have been during these periods before and it is extremely busy and noisy, being a family orientated resort. That being said, the staff were generally pretty good and friendly; particularly during the lunchtime pool service, chatty and attentive which was really good. Some of the staff were a little more abrupt which I can understand during these COVID times. Particularly during our included breakfast service; we were often waiting for service when it seemed everyone else around us was being looked after. The hotel was well signed regarding the COVID-19 protocols, but there wasn't a lot of social distancing happening. This didn't bother me at all, but if it is something you are worried about right now, this is not the hotel to stay at, especially during peak times. Overall, this trip was quite good. This hotel is still more about a room to sleep in while you go and enjoy the islands pools, beaches and activities, so if you want something more modern and perhaps less busy, better off finding something more private like Beach Club, Bungalows or Holiday Homes. You kind of get what you pay for, but as mentioned the rooms are clean and the staff are generally good so not too bad.…
