Nestled in the heart of the city, Hotel Indigo Adelaide Markets garners praise for its prime location, with the central markets and city attractions nearby. The hotel's atmosphere is regularly described as stylish and modern, boasting a funky vibe that captures guests' imaginations. While the amenities, including a welcoming pool and a pleasant rooftop bar, are generally appreciated, some visitors have pointed out that certain room features and lighting could be improved.
Although the service is acknowledged for its friendliness and professionalism, a few guests have faced issues with communication and service resolution. Rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and modern touches, but opinions are mixed regarding their size, layout, and cost. Cleanliness stands out as a strong point, yet the value proposition is debated due to additional costs for services.

My sister and I stayed overnight as part of a road trip in South Australia. Check in was friendly and efficient. All the staff throughout the hotel were friendly and professional. The location is excellent, adjacent to the Adelaide Central Market and surrounded by many restaurants.
Our room had two comfortable double beds and was very spacious (however that corner nook with a chair seemed like an odd use of space. The design is quite industrial, the use of copper pipes is a nod to South Australia's copper mining history. The room featured Adelaide Festival posters and a glassed-in bathroom with frosted glass for privacy (unfortunately this makes night visits an issue, with light entering the bedroom).
The rooftop bar and swimming pool had excellent views and were both very pleasant areas to relax. Breakfast was served in the lobby restaurant and food and service were excellent, the setting is modern and funky. We had the continental breakfast, which was plentiful (the cooked option came in at $39 which I consider overpriced for a four star plus hotel).
The Indigo is cool, funky and a pleasure to stay in.

Had a wonderful stay here. The room was spacious and comfortable and really enjoyed the pool but above all, the front desk staff were wonderful. We arrived off a long hall flight tired and wet after getting caught in the rain.
The location is great. Close to the central market.
We had already booked to stay a week later but we extended our stay. I can't wait to return.

Very nice hotel and brand new stew right next to Adelaide Point of Sale and Chinatown district. Very spacious rooms, comfortable bed with double pillow, ample closet space, large television and spectacular views of the city especially if you require a room to be allocated to the upper floors. we were given a room on the 11th floor that made corner and I saw it was amazing. There is no free and free parking but a valet service at a fairly high cost. it is therefore advisable to put the car in the nearby public parking. Absolutely recommended. On the top floor there is a rooftop bar which is the perfect place for an after dinner drink.

Firstly I want to be clear that this is a very good hotel. Meets almost all my need and I would love to give it a 5 stars. But there are 3 issues that happened during my stay, that are the very basic expectations of a hotel , which wasn’t fulfilled. First the good. The hotel is very new, very clean very hip . It’s is neat to Adelaide market and Chinatown and lots of good food and cafe options. It’s not too far to walk from the main CBD and shopping area. We arrived early and was given an earlier checkin. The issues. There is a touchscreen panel by the side of the door that allows you to set ‘do not disturb’ or ‘make up room’. The one for my room is at the disco throughout. Switching between the different options by itself , the touchscreen is faulty and d I couldn’t stop the switching. What happen then is that we get housekeeping knocking on our doors when we do not want to be disturbed. When we want the room made up, it’s switched to do not disturb. Notifying the front desk, they said they will get the technician to check but nothing was done and not updates. The basic requirements of safety and convenience wasn’t fulfilled. Next , the aircon and room light gets turned off intermittently . For no reason. So if you are alone in the room at night. The lights just turns off and on. Imagine someone afraid of dark being in the room alone. And of course the aircon also stops by itself and it gets warm. Our conditional was also empty but housekeeping didn’t refill them. I’m not big on complaining but these are basic expectations in my opinion. If not for the good parts. I would have given this a 1 star.

Dear Keithlhk, Thank you for your recent visit and taking the time to share your experience in detail. While you enjoyed several aspects of your stay I am sorry to hear that a number of areas were a let down. What you have experienced with the room control system is very unusual and certainly not common. We will investigate further to make sure this does not happen in the room you stayed in. The air-conditioning will turn down or off, when the temperature set point is reached. And then it will activate again when needed. I am sorry we did not meet your expectation - thank you for letting us know, so we can address the shortcomings.

This is a beautiful hotel, each room is themed on a previous Adelaide festival and there’s a nice pool and rooftop bar. Unfortunately the service was terrible. I came to Adelaide to go wine tasting and had a tour booked that left the city at 9am. I was woken by a phone call from reception the morning of my tour and told that they’d spoken to the driver and my tour would now start at 09:50 instead. I took a bit more time to get ready and was about to leave for a coffee and pastry when I was rung at 0905 by a second staff member and berated for missing the meeting for my wine tour and told they would be outside the hotel in 2 minutes and I needed to be ready then. I explained that I was following the guidance of the receptionist but it was clear that they weren’t communicating with each other. Thankfully I was still in the hotel at this point otherwise I’d have missed my trip. When I raised this with the first staff member downstairs she seemed to struggle to understand what had happened. At this point it would have been nice to have been given a free coffee or for a member of staff to apologise to the driver and everyone else on my tour for delaying them. I made the tour and tried to live down the embarrassment of being late. I received no further apology or acknowledgment and when I asked at check out if a 39 AUD food/drink bill could be removed to compensate me for the stressful morning, I was told the best they could offer was 8 AUD (£4) off my bill - given that I’d had to ask for this I found this pretty poor. Please ensure reception staff are able to pass messages correctly and communicate with each other, as well as consider how you can compensate guests for terrible service. If I’d returned from my tour to a written apology and a small voucher I would not have felt it necessary to write this review.

Dear Amy, After investigating your complaint we have been able to confirm that the Tour Company called the hotel and indeed asked our reception team to pass on the message about their delay to you. We are disappointed that you label our service as terrible for an issue that has nothing to do with our hotel or service.

Arrived at Hotel & was not clear where to check-in. The desk had pastries & a coffee machine on it. Stood around for quite sometime one very hot afternoon before we were attended to. We're not offered water upon check-in. We booked a balcony room. It was very small. No free drinking water. Bottles of still water charged at $9ea. I've never had to pay for drinking water in a Hotel before. Especially rude as everyone knows Adelaide's reputation of having undrinkable tap water. 2 coffee pods only supplied. The bed had a tv built at the base which means if you're tall you can not sleep stretched out. Gloomy grey, dirty balcony with furniture that has no stoppers on the legs so you are constantly hearing chairs scraping on tiles from the neighbors. No forethought in that regards. The building itself looks like a cheap student accommodation block. The pool tiny, not suitable for laps and a small rooftop bar. We were underwhelmed by this Hotel and did not think it worth the price. Good location but can also be very noisy.

Dear theweather, Thank you for staying with us. We truly appreciate it. Naturally, we are saddened that you haven't enjoyed your stay. With the responsibility to our community, we made conscious decisions to make less impact on the environment by providing a water fountain with filtered water in our Lobby. We are sorry you haven't found it adequate. To put ease on your mind, Adelaide water is perfectly safe to drink.

We stayed there recently as a family of 4 including 2 teenagers. Really good value for money for families as it includes a small but quality continental buffet AND cooked breakfast for the adults (and they were also very generous not to charge additional for the kids for the continental buffet). The hotel is in a great location close to the vibrant Central Market and Chinatown, with tons of eateries close by. Although the room was not big, but it's modern, clean, comfy and adequate for us, especially at this price :) Service also came with a smile, whether at the check-in counter or meals area.
Pro tip: if you have car and planning to use it a few times during the day, finding street parking is not a bad option as compared to the $25 day rate at the UPark on Grote Street, which only allows one exit/entry per day. Street parking on the main streets is generally ticketed, at the cost of around $5.10 per hour, but free between 6pm and 8am.

I stayed at the Indigo Adelaide Markets in October 2024. The hotel is modern and has a fun vibe. The location is great right next to the central markets/Gouger St, has a gym and pool area, and a rooftop bar. Staff were also friendly and attentive. The cons were that it felt expensive and the room layout is a bit awkward. Overall, I would stay again.

Booked the room to stay for my toddler’s birthday. I had to change date due to child’s sickness. Was asked for a sick certificate and a whole debate on being charged for more money even the future date we chose was a cheaper rate. At the end the manager said she will talk to reservations to transfer the credit to the new booking after the weekend. When she call back on Monday they refused to change it and all that conversation we had was a waste of time. They didn’t care about us receiving the product/service. It just simply shows they would take your money and not care if you stay. This whole experience could have been a great one if you think about it. They have already got my money and I could have spend more during my stay. It’s also not high season where the entire city is booked out.

Dear Adtsumi, The discounted rate package you booked was non refundable and does not allow date changes as clearly stated in our terms when making the reservation. Hence it is sold at a discounted price. There are flexible rate options, which allow date changes and cancellations. Thank you for your understanding and we are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

My husband & I stayed at the Hotel Indigo Adelaide, a very modern boutique hotel very different to where we have stayed before but loved it. We opted for valet parking so our car was looked after, the staff were so friendly we invited another couple to join us for drinks at the rooftop bar and dinner in their restaurant food was delicious. The rooms very comfortable and modern with a king bed, breakfast was fabulous and plenty so throughly recommend The Indigo hotel Adelaide!
