The Brunswick used to be popular with larger businesses around Liverpool St, but its formerly classy atmosphere has recently been overshadowed by arbitrary rules mercilessly enforced against its own regulars. The bar has no nibbles to go with drinks, and I've watched on as people get thrown out for bringing their own. I don't know what sort of atmosphere they're...

I'm not really a review writer but I definitely need to leave a review here. My experience in this hotel is terrible. Most of the good reviews are form the guys and let's here one from a girl. The location of the hotel is perfect - right opposite of woolworths and right in the middle of the city center. I...

I love this place. Great bar, relaxed atmosphere and I have never had a bad meal here. I have never stayed in the hostel, but the restaurant and bar is great and you meet some of the best people there. I recommend the Jack-O-Lantern parmigiana with a glass of Tassie wine.

I stayed at the Tassie Backpackers, I stayed there two nights while I did a tour in Tasmania. The place is alright, the staff are friendly. However, my room smelt a bit weird like a lot of dirty socks..., which is not necessarily the fault of the hostel. The bar seemed fine downstairs. Showers fogged up quickly and you could...

From the moment I arrived I found the staff very rude and unhelpful. From there it only got worse. Sub par facilities lack of security, slowest wifi I've ever attempted to use anywhere in the world which didn't matter anyhow as their false advertising of free wifi was limited to 250mb for 7 days (it's 20016! Pick up your game....

Have been here with the same group over the past few years a number of times however our most recent visit left a bit of a bad taste as the waitress told us no less than five times that "we don't do split bills". Fair enough to be told once or twice but five times was a little excessive we...

This review reflects the nature of the accommodation rather than the trip as a whole. I thoroughly enjoyed both Hobart and the parts of Tasmania I was fortunate enough to visit and would recommend visiting to anyone who had ever considered going. Arrival to Hobart was quite surreal, such a little airport, almost something you'd expect somewhere quite remote but...

Having had occasion to go to Hobart and Tasmania on numerous occasions in the last several years, last August I thought I'd stay at Tassie Backpackers at the Brunswick which I had the very first time in 2010 purely for nostalgic reasons, because the building reminds me of the old world, the mid-20thC. But I had to leave suddenly in...

Stayed at Tassie backpackers for the entirety of our Tasmania visit in a private room. Room was well appointed with mini fridge and kettle/tea and coffee supplies. Only downside was a lack of shelves/hooks in the room for wet towels and coats since the weather was so awful. I really liked that we had our own sink even though the...

This property is a backpacker hotel and we only stayed because there was no other place available in Hobart and we were stranded with a broken down vehicle. There were up to 10 in one room and we were lucky after the first night we moved to a 4 bed room . The noise was very loud till after 01:00am...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Brunswick Hotel is one of the last remaining hotels that once graced Liverpool Street. Established in 1827, twenty years after the settlement of Hobart, the hotel represents an important part of this country’s social history. The Brunswick Hotel bar boosts eight different beers on tap that includes Cascade Brewery’s finest beers (the oldest brewery in Australia), an evolving section of some of Tasmanian’s premium red and white wines both by the glass and bottle. The Brunswick Hotel also provides very fairly priced Hotel rooms that are the perfect choice for a centrally located Hobart stay. Our en-suite rooms come equipped with a fridge, tea & coffee and a flat screen TV. Our restaurant headed up by one of Hobart’s premium chefs, Tony Gamble, who has produced a menu that exemplifies locally sourced produce, meat, seafood and cheeses. These dishes leads themselves to be shared between friends or indulge on some of our pub classics, such as Marrawah Steak sandwich, our own Brunswick Lamb Burger, grilled calamari and our own hand cut fries. The Brunswick Hotel is the perfect place for a casual every day lunch and dinner catch-up or unwind. Not to mention a ‘Hobart Getaway’ for the weekend. With the longest chesterfield in Tassie (second longest in the world), comfy leather booths or tradition "sit at the bar" seating, we are ready for you at Hobart’s newest friendly local hotel. ... more   less
