This is a large elegant family mansion in a beautiful genteel neighbourhood of Hobart. It has been restored to a high standard by the couple who own & run it, and I thoroughly recommend choosing it. I stayed in an "executive queen room with water views" and it was worth the extra money for the views, it made coming back...

I cannot in all honesty share the enthusiasm everyone else seems to have for the Grand Vue. I agree that the hotel is in a great location. The room was good in terms of being spacious and clean, but our supposed sea view was actually pretty much the view of a large conifer. The owners were anonymous and whilst we...

We arrived with no expectation and just driving through battery point gave us a feeling of stepping back in time to a quaint English town. We arrived at the house/hotel by hosts, John and Annette , who treated us like part of the family. We were taken to our room overlooking the bay, and brought homemade fresh muffins daily ....

We booked the 2 bedroom suite with spa for 2 nights, and we had a wonderful stay. It is located a 8 mins walk to the Salamanca Place and is close to a handful of top-rated hotel including the Italian Da Angelo which is just a block away. The couple who ran the place were nice people, you can tell...

My husband and I recently returned from Battery Point Hobart after staying in the Turret Room of the Grand Vue Private Hotel for a 3 night weekend. This room is on the second floor with a beautiful staircase and stained glass window to admire on your way up. This1907 mansion is magical. Complete with antique furniture - the photo above...

Staying in historical Battery Point was wonderful, we walked many of the streets admiring the well-restored old houses and it was easy to walk down Kelly St and the steps to Salamanca Place and market. Mona St is really quiet, there was not a sound in the night and hardly any traffic in the day. Our room overlooked the Derwent...

My husband and I loved staying here. The rooms are beautiful and very tastefully decorated. The small kitchenette is very handy and we loved the homemade muffins that were still warm and delivered to our room one afternoon. The lobby and sitting room when you enter the hotel is also stunning. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this...

A gracious private hotel established in a private home 80 years ago, the Grande Vue Hotel is in a charming, old neighborhood of Hobart where shipping magnates built their homes in the 1800s. The room was lovely with a beautiful view of the water. The hosts made all the difference, leaving home baked pastries in the afternoon, helping with suggestions...
