On 23rd floor the view was ok, and the location central and convenient. The features are fairly standard and mostly functional. Crockery and cutlery only two of everything, only one glass.

On arrival the means of entry weren’t apparent. Another guest kindly showed us the intercom to call the reception desk. Only then did the staff release lift access to the third floor where we collected the room key.
There is no way to get up there unless they unlock the lift controls.

It was very crowded with guests collecting keys or replacing supplies for their kitchen or bathroom. The reception ‘office’ was just another apartment; quite chaotic. The staff - while courteous - seemed rather unprofessional.

Most apartments seem to be used by international students so the lifts were quite busy but reasonably prompt.

Although we booked and paid in full in advance of our arrival, only then did we learn that a further $200 deposit against damage was required, but refundable with a few days of checkout. This was not negotiable so we paid up.

We don’t understand why this payment is necessary, when our credit card number is available from the booking. A week later there has been no refund!

I booked these apartments on a recent visit to
Melbourne and wanted to spend a few days in the city.

Location is excellent. Very close to flagstaff station and most places were within walking distance. Staff were very helpful when I needed to leave my bag as I arrived a bit early and needed a later check out. Their checkout time is 10 am so not the most helpful.

I had an apartment on a higher floor with 2 bedrooms. They were clean and comfortable. There was a fabulous city view from one of the bedrooms. Bathroom was small but functional. I was comfortable inside the apartment.

On the flip side, there were just 2 elevators servicing the entire complex. Most of the time one was either not working or stuck on the basement floor. So you end up spending quite a long time waiting for an elevator. Somehow the elevators and common area did not give a good vibe. It felt clean and unkept.

On the first night I kept hearing sounds. I thought someone has broken into the apartment and went out of the room a few times. Following morning I figured it was from the apartment above me. But it meant I hardly slept. It was the same tue second night too but I just ignored the sounds.

Website I booked through said it was reduced from 400 odd a night to 150 odd... thought, wow.. that'll be nice. It's clean enough, good tv, air con, nice bathrooms.. but very small for a family apartment. Coffee machine a bit crusty/dirty, and only 4 pods, 3 sugars and 1 teabag in the stock. No facewashers in the bathroom. Walls a little thin.. you hear everything out in the street and in the hallway (even from 20+ floors up). Bottom line, if I was expecting the 150odd dollar room, I'd be pretty happy. Great location and good value. I just expected a little better for the pre-discounted price advertised.

Farse of a hotel terrible service and unreasonable Manager

Upon check in we arrived to a woman complaining heavily about the cleanliness of her room saying there were stains, hairs and her room smelled

Our room wasn’t too bad for cleanliness luckily however there were no glasses and stained carpet

However on the second night we arrived back at 12am to find the key fobe had stopped working we tried for over an hour because you need this to get in and for the lift and we couldn’t get in. After trying to call the numbers several times no one picked up and even in a building this size there was no reception or anyone to contact. We then had to spend another 439 dollars on a last minute hotel as that’s the only one that’s available at that time or else we’d be on the street for the night , the manager laughed at us for paying that much but we had no choice as nothing was available at 1am - he was extremely rude

The next day they replaced of fob and we asked to speak to manager who wasn’t there. They refunded us just 184 dollars which isn’t even one nights stay here and nothing for the inconvenience of having to spend a night at another hotel. We went back to speak to the manager who said he’d investigate but said it’s possible the fob had been damaged so told us to come back in a few hours. When we came back a few hours later he’d already come to the conclusion we’d damaged the fob and when we asked to see it there was nothing there to show any damage. Absolute awful service

Wouldn’t recommend at all

Stayed for 3 nights with my husband and 1 child and 1 bedroom size is perfect for us. Do not be fooled by their no frills check-in as the room more than makes up for it. This is not a hotel, it is a serviced apartment. The only lobby is on the ground floor of the building that has nothing but sitting area and elevators. We went to level 3 for check-in which was fast and as soon as I got the keys, we went straight to the room.

The room and bathroom was very clean. It has everything that we need: bath amenities including some toiletries, fully equipped kitchennette, a lot of space for luggages, netflix on tv, a lot of sockets to charge gadgets, and the view is great!

The location is superb as free tram is available at the front and both side streets of the property. Melbourne Central shopping center is right down the corner with a lot of food, shopping and even Coles for grocery needs. Nearest fast food is Hungry Jacks but walk just a little bit further and there will be other options. Cafes are aplenty everywhere you walk even bubble tea is everywhere. We walked mostly to the tourist spots and rode the tram whenever we felt like it. Staying in Platinum City Serviced Apartments is the best decision we did that made our stay in Melbourne very memorable. Staff are also accommodating, polite and efficient and they kept our luggage for free while waiting for our flight leaving from Melbourne.

Please note though that this is not a hotel, so their office is not open 24/7 so better coordinate your arrival time early, and no daily cleaning service. I don't know how often one can request for it since we didn't need it.

These apartments are situated on La Trobe close to Queen Street so well-placed for the circular tram and the QVM. Unfortunately that's just about the only positive. Despite reporting the problem the WiFi wasn't accessible during our stay either being "forbidden" or "no plans available". Kitchen equipment was lacking with no bowls, scissors or frying pan. We also reported that the kitchen sink couldn't be used for washing up as the plug didn't fit - nothing happened.
The apartment was not serviced (despite the name) and as there's no reception desk you had to ring to request supplies. This lack of human contact increases the air of disinterest and impersonality which pervades the apartments. One of the more claustrophobic apartments we have rented. Despite asking for a quiet unit we were placed next to the garbage disposal chute which other residents accessed at all hours.

Difficultly getting in on arrival .booked by another member of our party . Went to office and although we had telephoned and booked parking the day before it wasn’t done . Staff friendly . Why we were asked for $ 200 deposit I don’t know . Apartment was not really suitable for 4 adults staying three nights with luggage .
Second bedroom very small , no hanging space and had to put cases in the living room and a little claustrophobic.
I couldn’t see any books or instructions like I would expect to find re fires , plan of escape exits . Useful numbers to call etc .
No ventilation in the second bedroom . Got very hot and door couldn’t be left open as then no privacy
Only one large plate , one small plate , a couple of mugs , two wine glasses and a tumbler .
Just one towel each and a bath mat .
Shower dreadful , leaked through the door , drain couldn’t cope with water . Central shower nozzle odd style and tap hard to turn on despite instructions on door . Tap is loose in sink and hard to turn on . After one guest used shower water all, over the bathroom floor as seal on door no good either .
Only a two seater couch ( with a cigarette burn ) and a dining table so not comfortable for four adults .
My friend who did the booking was convinced she had booked a rooftop apartment with views .
I will be monitoring with great concern that our deposit is paid to my friend when it should be .have take photos proving the condition we left apartment in just in case
Seemed to be an issue at first when my friend asked for a copy of the bill ?

Location is good....however....apartment was tiny and in need of a deep clean and some TLC. A very stale small permeated the entire apartment. The common areas of the building are grimy. Check in is bizarrely done in the living room of a messy apartment on the 3rd floor. Despite being told checkout was 10 am there was no one about when we checked out at 8.35 am and both phone numbers went straight through to voicemail. The quality of furnishings and bedding is cheap. The bedrooms are very small. The second small bedroom had no ventilation or windows meaning you had to sleep with the door open. The apartment windows were really dirty. All in all a really poor accommodation experience, poor value for money, and would not recommend.

If I could give it 2,5 stars I would. We had a 3 night stay.

I'll start with the positiv - the view. It's STUNNING! High rises and great sunsets in between the high rises in the evening. And the apartment is nice and bright and actually kept cool without use of the air conditioner. Honestly, that's it. Small improvements would make a major difference though:

1) 3905 situated on the 39th floor is tiny which is fine if you don't have more than one suitcase and have time to unpack. There's cupboard space, but nowhere to put the suitcase(s). I had to move the table facing the wall to the window which gave med 1. a better view, 2. a space to open up my suitcases on the floor. The TV could have been hung up on the wall which would have given space for two suitcase stands/holders like found in hotel rooms.

2) It is very poorly equipped! 1 drinking glass, a broken coffee machine and generally uneven everything. We came to the city to spend time with family and it would have been nice to be able to offer a drink or even dinner maybe. Unfortunately not enough chairs, plates, glasses, cups or cutlery for 4. AI also missed scissors, a broom/hoover and knives that actually were sharp enough to cut.

3) The pillows were way too high and the left hand side of the bed was sloping badly and gave both me and my partner a bad back. (We kept swapping sides)

They have saved in the wrong places and a little extra would have gone a long way. We won't be back. Too much work.

Stay at your own risk! This apartment is a scam job! We had put a $200 security deposit and they conveniently said we had stained the carpet after we left! The stains were old stains and they did not even tell us we had to inform if there are stains when we check in. Very dishonest housekeeper who probably was not happy cos we feedback about the smell in the toilet.

Please for your own sake avoid this apartment at all cost!!!!!

Photos of old stains are attached. There is even a similar Agoda review of the stains on this carpet at the exact 3802 room.
