Because the hostel is currently being renovated, my friend and I had problems finding the reception, but they probably solved that by now. The service was very nice! The beds in our room weren't the best, but definitely okay for one night. The lockers under the beds were very practical for storing our backpacks during the night. The bathroom (shared...

Accomodation can be very expensive in Melbourne, specially if you want some comfort. My husband and I chose a private room in this YHA because we love to see all the activities offered by hostels, with a bit of privacy. Location was perfect, we were able to do everything on foot. The room was also good. Not noisy - just...

My friends and I (total 3 girls), shared a room. This hostel was SO comfortable and SO clean. It was well-located within the city. It was no problem getting from the airport to this hostel. Just hop onto the sky bus (buy return, it's cheaper), and it'll drop you off at southern cross station. From there, it's a 10 minutes...

We stayed for two nights in October in a private room which was clean and comfortable, all linen and towels included. We didn't use the communal area or kitchen during our stay but it looked clean and well stocked. The communal bathrooms and showers were excellent quality and cleanliness. The location near Southern Cross station and in Flinders Street was...

This was my final hostel while backpacking and the best. It is very well located and extremely clean. The facilities are very modern and I never had any queues or waiting times. I booked a 4 bed mixed share. The bed was super comfy with nice duvet/pillow and the room heater worked amazing!

I stayed at YHA Melbourne Central for 1 night at the beginning of October, after a trip of the Great Ocean Road. It was clean with good facilities and well located. I was in a 4 bed dorm, which was quiet and comfortable with good security. Pricey, but then so is everywhere in Melbourne! Would definitely recommend, one of the...

I stayed here for 2 nights in a 3 bed female dorm which consisted of bunk beds and a single which I was fortunate to have. Underneath the beds is a lockable storage space so again remember your padlock. My room was on the 1st floor room104 along from reception and the balcony area. Bathrooms on this level were clean...

This hostel is very clean and spacious. Rooms are a nice size and comfy beds. Toilets and showers are good and spotless too! The rooftop has amazing views of the city, perfect for afternoon drinking. Ina. Good location with nandos and dominos opposite! Only downside is that it isn't very sociable so I would recommend coming here with friends and...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
