Stayed here for 6 nights in early October, was a very comfortable stay and the staff were very friendly and nice. We arrived to the hotel at about 7am and the staff were very prompt to clean a room from us so we could check in super early, which we were very pleased with having come of a red eye... More

Clean, fresh, modern and has everything you need for a great price. Very comfortable bed, nice linen, great shower, lovely soaps. The room service is provided by a third party but was excellent! Only downside would be that it is in a laneway and you get garbage collection noise through the night on that side of the building.

Stayed here last night for business purposes, as i had an early morning meeting and woke up to no hot water! ! I am not impressed and when reported the desk clerk was very unhelpful. She didn't seem to get how upset i was and how important it was that i was prepared for my meeting. I will never stay... More

Located on the quiet Exploration Lane just off Little Lonsdale street, Fraser Place Melbourne was a great find. I stayed for 9 nights on a mixture of business and travelling. Location is perfect within close walking distance of Melbourne's free city centre trams which allow free travel to almost all of Melbourne's top attractions: Docklands and harbour, Southgate and business... Fraser Place in Melbourne. It is in a quiet lane off the main shopping area - and the gastronomic delights of Chinatown. But it is far more more than a location; the hotel is well run with friendly, discreet but helpful staff. The rooms are a good size and well equipped. The freebie soaps etc are high quality, branded products... More

We have now stated at Fraser Place 5 times and have always been happy with our choice. The location is fantastic, just near Chinatown and very close to the main shopping in the city. Rooms have always been clean with a small kitchenette to allow you to make a cuppa and breakfast before heading out. Bathroom on the small side... More

Read mixed reviews about Fraser Place but thought we would give it a go as we normally stay at Docklands which is more expensive. Fraser Place is in a great location - tucked away down Exploration Lane. The staff were great - they couldn't have been more helpful. I'll start with the good points. Staff, friendly and personable. Free WiFi, awesome. Rooms? No, I booked this place based on the photos. Don't be fooled. Very old and tacky compared to the pictures. Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
