Wonderful location within easy walk of Federation Square, the museums, the restaurants along the Yarra River, Botanical Gardens, Chinatown and high end shops. The room was comfortable, plain and big and could be better with an armchair in addition to the desk chair, more closet space and a full length mirror. Decor is dated but hotel is the process of...

Perfect central location just around the corner from Bourke Street Mall, the hotels decor is looking a bit tired and could do with an upgrade. Nice sized room with the usual tea coffee etc. The bed was comfortable. The shower pressure was low, and I am not a fan of showers over bath in hotels, very awkward to climb in...

This is an ideal hotel if you want to be in the middle of Melbourne. It's in the CBD, right on Swanson St., so close to shopping, restaurants and bars. The trams stop right outside the front door. Breakfast was really good, set me up for the day. Rooms may be a little tired, but all you do is sleep...

We loved the charm of this historic hotel. They even have an interesting history of how it began as a Temperance hotel. It is good value. It could not have been more convenient as we walked to virtually all the colorful neighborhoods. We found it in good condition despite its age. Understand it is not a glamorous new luxury hotel....

This is a really nice hotel with larger than average rooms that have been decorated nicely and are clean and well-appointed. The breakfast is nice and the staff helpful. This hotel is located around shopping, many restaurants, and many tourist sites and is close to public transportation. I would absolutely stay here again.

I have just returned from my third visit to this hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. Seeing the same staff there as on my previous trips makes for a happy guest.the rooms are being updated but there was no inconvenience to guests. The location couldn't be better right in the centre . Trams just outside the door. As a...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
