This was my second stay here coming to Melbourne to see Aladdin with my two adult daughters. One room for three adults we thought was doable. Sadly, at check in we all felt the desk person was very abrupt. No warmth or welcome at all. We left as we were too early to check in and went back late in...

I stayed here once on a night out in the City at last minute, the service on the reservations was great and they were able to accommodate me which was great. There is parking at the hotel but through the alley, which is $13 per night, but it is secure, and then you can either enter through the front or...

Great location. I had a back room so pretty quiet at night and could not hear noise from any other rooms. Nice staff. Would stay again. Would recommend a bigger room if 2 people were to stay. Overall great value.

We had 3 days in Melbourne without our tween and stayed at the Grand Chancellor. The location was good but the hotel is dated and dark. It was at the mid-upper price range of hotels we looked at in the area. We've stayed around the world and expect a certain amount of positive spin about the accommodation. However, the photos/descriptions...

Really good standard for a city hotel - service and facilities great. All you need from a hotel. Shower is not that powerful, but ok. Bed was comfy, eqsy to get in and out of location, nice breakfast.

As soon as you walk into the outdated lobby, you get the feeling that the rest of the hotel is going to be the same. And let me tell you, it didn't disappoint. With its horrible decor and musty smell, I was concerned about what would happen next. Checking in was fine. Quite friendly but reading the "very" fine print...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
