I would highly recommend this hotel. It is central to everything and the staff are awesome. They work like troupers. They made my daughter and I feel like we were royalty. They made the trip. We will definitely be back!

Staff were very attentive and helpful but the rooms are plain and furnishings look quite tattered. I was disappointed that I had to regularly request for supplies - we booked for 3 people and only had supplies for 2 people. The pool area in particular looks very abandoned. This hotel is not 4 star and does not live up to...

Great location for access to great food, museum, markets and shopping. The rooms are modern, with a comfy bed, the bathroom is slightly dated but functional and clean. The pool area is very nice and clean. Staff were very friendly and professional. Will definitely stay again

This is the ideal Melbourne location - very safe, near theatres, restaurants, Chinatown, department stores etc.. The room and facilities were good and the staff friendly and helpful. We will certainly stay there again when in Melbourne next.

Fantastic hotel for location, rooftop pool and the friendliness of staff. Would recommend for anyone travelling to Melbourne and looking for comfortable accommodation that isn't going to break the bank.

Hotel was really nice and the staff were excellent! Very friendly and welcoming. The only down fall from our stay was the house keeping of our room, as it wasn't cleaned for 3 days and then when asked to clean everything was just rushed and fresh towels thrown in a pile on the bed with the old ones still in...

I'm a regular visitor at the Grand Chancellor Melbourne, as it's right across the road from our office there. It's always clean, the staff are friendly and courteous. The beds are comfy and there's plenty of hot water.

Location is OK, the room was OK had new furnishings but the room still looked old. The bathroom looks like the maintenance staff were giving 10 mins to paint the joint. The towel rail was painted(metal rail) but the door frame wasn't. The room was on a high floor and was terribly noisy at night time, I was a side...

This HGCM is located in the CBD area of Melbourne. It is situated between other high rise buildings and unless you want a view of grey walls, you will need to book the best rooms available. The basic rooms have old showers and little window space. If you have a family, they are a bit of a squeeze if a...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
