After deciding a short notice to spend the night in a 5 Star hotel to celebrate a birthday, the Grand Hyatt lived up to all expectations. Adjoining rooms - no problem sir; Special Occassion - We will organise something special for you sir; Breakfast & valet parking - Of course sir. The location is so convenient, Chinatown and their great...

I chose the hotel for it's convenient location and it did not disappoint. Trams stop right to the door of the Collins street entrance. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. Room service food quality was excellent. The pay movie package was very, very slow. Generally, the staff were pleasant and efficient but no-one offered to help with my bags...

Location-wise is very nice - hotel is located within city centre and lots of great shopping spots nearby. Yet I personally don't like to 'very packed' feeling since when I look through the windows, i see every rooftops of all building surrounding. Everything else of this hotel is of great quality, esp. their unbeatable buffet breakfast and buffet lunch!!!!! Very...

I have stayed at various standards of hotel including 5 star and had great expectations for this hotel. Check in was very good, room was lovely (upgraded to a city view which was very nice) but the buffet breakfast experience was very disappointing on both mornings we went there. It is definitely not set out well, seems to be all...

This is a big city hotel and whilst a few years old now is still a nice experience to stay as location is fab, hotel glamorous and staff efficient but.....the plumbing is so noisy it killed it for me. Two nights in a row I was woken by water rushing through pipes as my neighbours took baths and showers in...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
