When i saw the pics of the hotel i was rather impressed with it. When i got there everything about this changed. On arrival everything was great, then i checked in and we went to our rooms. I was on the first floor with an awning as my view.... not so nice. The bathroom seemed updated but extremely small. At...

We often stay at Mercure Treasury Gardens on weekend visits to Melbourne. Love the location - its in the city, but not near anything loud. Handy to get to from the airport (costs about $50 AUD) for a taxi, or there is the bus to Southern Cross and then the Hotel Shuttle. We mostly get a taxi in and bus...

My friends and I stayed here for a weekend in October and it is safe to say this hotel is a gem! It was cheaper than most hotels, with a very modern and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were absolutely wonderful, as we made a lot of requests during our stay- they were friendly and nothing was too hard for them!...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
