Located at the Paris end of Collins Street, this boutique hotel is just perfect. Next to the Athenaeum Theatre, across the road from the Regent and around the corner from China Town, the Adara Collins is perfectly located. The entrance is very understated and Reception is minute, however, the rooms are very comfortable and well decorated. I stayed in a...

This motel is located perfectly for enjoying the CBD. We received an upgrade, thankfully as wonder what the other room would have been like. First night was fine but the second night a terrible odour was coming from the bathroom which made it difficult to sleep.

We had a one bedroom apartment on the fourth floor for 2 nights - wish it was longer. The apartments are situated on the "Paris" end of Collins street - everything is accessible/in walking distance - shops/restaurants/theatres/bars/art gallery/Woolies Metro /fast food outlets. Being an older building, the ceilings were high giving a feeling of space. The apartment was nicely furnished,...

We had a one bedroom apartment, on the eighth floor. Our shower was mouldy! I asked receptionist to get the cleaners to come and clean it- All they did was throw some bleach around but they didn't scrub it! The lift was agonisingly slow & often held up by the cleaning staff, the receptionist had to run up to the...

The location is absolutely unbeatable but the building and rooms are terrible. We asked to be moved partway through our stay as the ceiling above us was broken and clicked/creaked all night. They kindly accommodated this but how is it reasonable to pay $180 a night for that? Beds are tiny, rock hard and uncomfortable.

A little difficult to find but seems pleasant so far. Kitchenette is old chipped laminate backsplash is the only negative so far. Couple of tables so i can wirk which is nice, oh and also lots of plug sockets which is really really useful and makes a nice change too.

We couldn't have had a better location to explore Melbourne. When we arrived we were updagraded to a 2 bedroom apartment on the 8th floor. Reception staff were always friendly everytime we went in and out, they were also very helpful with any queries we had and they booked the airport bus for us the day before we left. The...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
