Reception & staff very friendly, the room was really just a room with a frosted glass petitioned wall to the bathroom, king size bed, one small bedside table, towel rails at opposite end of shower, get out of bed to turn on/off lights, totally dysfunctional & impractical.

Stayed for 4nights middle of September, my room was in the older part of hotel facing Spencer Street, I found it OK but if your a light sleeper avoid front rooms of hotel, room nice & clean and really great value for the price. We stayed here for 3 nights during the week of F1. Finding hotels of good value were a challenge and when I chanced this hotel through Booking.com, immediately did some research and booked the hotel within the first hour. There were 3 of us and the room we booked was for 4. The room was spacious with 2 queen beds...

This hotel is excellently located across the road from the Southern Cross Station and the Sky Bus etc. The free Heritage tram is a short 1/2 block away down on Flinders Street and provides access to all of Melbournes major attractions eg. Victoria Market - don't forget to have a Spicy Lamb Borek for lunch !!/ Aquarium/ State Museum/Docklands etc...

I was looking for a cheap stay in Melbourne for an overnight trip and that is exactly what I got. The room is tidy but very small. The hotel is in a good spot and the staff were very nice, but don't expect to pay a small tariff and receive a mansion. It is good value if you are looking...

The staff are amazingly friendly here, attentive, polite and very helpful. The hotel lobby is all new however the rooms are extremely run down and old and need redoing. Looks like an old goal, bit creepy. Restaurant had fairly decent breakfast with a range of hot and cold selections, waiters very nice. Extremely close to everything especially the train station...

I stayed here for 2 nights with 2 others. It sure was value for money. The room was long and had a double and 2 singles. Because of the cheap rate from booking.com it didn't come with room housekeeping but who cares. They tell you to change towels at reception if need be. Tram lines are a few metres away....

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
