Need to get new carpet and beds. Room can get stuffy and the view is of people in the apartments next door. Had a lovely time watching someone sing in front of their laptop (which was in their bedroom) lucky they closed their blinds at night (others didn't!)

We returned to Gordon Place for the fourth or fifth time recently. The staff are always very helpful. The beds are comfortable and the linen spotless. We really like the history associated with this place, there are "quirks" of course in a building this old that is bound to happen. It is very close to the "Top End" of town...

Great location for going to a show at the Princess Theatre. Close to other theatres as well. Trains and trams close by as well. Hotel has an interesting history which is well displayed throughout the facility. Will definitely stay there again.

What a disappointment - Room 63. This is called a studio apartment??? A disgrace. We are here for 3 nights and paying $143 per night. We have to put one suit case on the kitchen bench and the other in the bathroom. The cafe next door had a table placed outside near our window. The person sitting there was barely...

Reception is not at Little Bourke st it is on Londdale st. Hotel is set in old workers buildings and is full of character. Lot of noise echoes around the complex so if you are sleeping facing the courtyard your sleep may be interrupted.

Lift was out of order on our recent visit. We were on the top floor. Spoke with another couple who said they had stayed there before (a few months earlier apparently) and the lift did not work then either. It appears this MAY be a regular problem. If your are fit and healthy this is not an issue but following...

great location nice big room but not well appointed, and poorly kept. lacked working central air-con and had lots of portable heaters, fans and fan heaters to try and make up for that. TV kept loosing reception and staff could not fix it, batheoom was very dusty and not clean (hairs on the shower walls) would not stay there again

Great location, however, the apartments although clean need a make over. Check in staff were busy but friendly and it was appreciated that we could check in early. The 2 bedroom apartment was spacious and clean, however, the washing machine had an "Out of Order" sign stuck on which was not explained at check in.

Although the location of the property is good, the standards were middling at best. Queries were dealt with late, and there were difficulties on checking out with claims that we owed them money for something we had already paid for.

Excellent and quiet hotel. Friendly staff and value for money. Triple (quality) sheets and cosy apartment. Nice ambience, with BBQ by outside pool, would be lovely in warmer months Will be back, thanks

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
