For me, the Exford is just a place to flop. It's a simple place with simple amenities, so if you're expecting concierge, room service, satellite TV's in the rooms, bar fridges or anything along these lines, you'll need to look elsewhere. You'll get a comfortable bed, wardrobe if you book a double room, lockers if you book a dorm room,...

The staffs are nice. Roommate very friendly. Room a bit small and not the cleanest but the bathrooms are really clean. Personally will come back here with friends. Nice bar downstair. Will get a little bit noisy in the morning. No lift at all so just consider yourself warned. Free self-service breakfast until 9.30am.

My partner and I were visiting Melbourne and happened to catch a glance at the offer of free comedy for that night at the Exford Hotel. We were unsure how funny the comedians would be but we gave it a shot and had an absolutely amazing night :) The upstairs part of the hotel had a beautiful atmosphere with great...

Walking back from the casino to The Sofitel we called in for a beer. It was a nice, neat, and relaxing pub. Great selection of beers on tap and was nice and cold. Close to chinatown where we had lunch

A Real Aussie Bar, the Exford is a place we have visited two years running. It is well located close to China town and the restaurants. We enjoyed a few cold ones in the summer heat amongst some friendly banter and the TV sports channels.

I'm not sure if the bartender knew we were tourists and took advantage of that fact, but she charged us $23 for two beers! Unless that's just how much beers are there? Then in that case, that's kind of ridiculous considering that it's really just a dive bar. It's a tourist trap. But then again, I'm sure locals wouldn't be...

Situated at at a very convenient place, you feel like you're at the center of all activities all the time. The night life around is just awesome, not to miss the hotels own pub which is full with interesting performances, comedy shows, live music etc. There are restaurants all around. But the best part about the place is ever so...

Really helpful staff, nice little breakfast in the bar with old school and relax hip-hop music. Toast, cereals, pancake, coffee etc. Private showers, clean rooms, nicely located. What you're looking for as a simple but nice hostel. Beware: a lot of stairs, no elevator.. a good work-out!

I only stayed for a night. There was a bar downstairs and it was very noisy at night. I think some of people might get drunk so they screamed loudly. I totally couldn't sleep when heard any noises. Perhaps I better spent more for staying somewhere....

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
