This is a fine place to stay if you're young or on a budget. It's located close to the city center, and the staff are really helpful. However, they charge for Wifi, which sucks, and they have very strict alcohol policies within the hostel. The bar attached to Space Hotel closes really early too - I've never heard of a...

Great! So clean and neat, staff is nice and rooms are big with nice beds and lots of storage space. Many floors, so lots of walking up and down the stairs. Kitchen is big and clean, same with eating area. Wifi only works all the way down by the lobby with a internet/computer corner you can use. Single showers (could...

I had a amazing stay in the "deluxe room" / "Balcony En-suite room". They have a very friendly staff and the room was very clean. Beside of that they had nice facilities like a gym, kitchen, rooftop and many more. Things like Victoria market, South War, RMIT, city centre are on walking distance. I had a great stay,

The free WiFi in the lobby is painfully slow. You won't be able to do anything. It was hell. I was forced to go and buy a local sim card. What's worse, if you want wifi in your room you have to pay for it. This is unacceptable considering Space hotel is not cheap relatively. There is no excuse for...

We had an amazing stay for 7 nights here in a Queen Ensuite Room. Had booked a queen room with shared bathroom, but were upgraded on arrival, which was a lovely touch. The hotel was well laid out and facilities were clean and functional - both gym and kitchen were great! The location is also fantastic - within easy walking...

Coming from a month in Thailand I was looking for a refreshingly clean and affordable stay in Melbourne. Il be honest the price was a bit more than other hostels. But as I always say, you get what you pay for. This place is worth the extra few bucks compared to the other places in town. I stayed for just...

Thank you very much for the review, we would definitely have to agree with you that the service and facilities here at Space our worth that little extra. Our apologies if the free WiFi caused you any problems during your stay, at peak times it can be a little slow and this is something we are currently addressing. We look...

Space Hotel is a very good choice in an otherwise expensive Melbourne. It's a good mix between hostel and hotel; It has all the social aspects of a hostel and the facilities of a hotel. One of the girls at reception was particularly unhelpful on several occasions but the other members of staff I interacted with were wonderful.

The Space Hostel is ok - not more. I stayed here in a single room for 4 nights. The room was good - view towards the city was nice. There are on every floor rooms where there is a shower and toilets which could be a bit cleaner in total. The Hostel is only offering free wifi downstairs at the...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
