Detailed Reviews
We decided to stay at the Mercure for the Australia Day weekend. The location was the best for walking to the foreshore and pretty much everywhere in Perth that we wanted to see.
We checked in not really knowing where to park because of the road closures and car parking lots being closed. You can have valet parking for $35.00 a day, we parked across the road in the Wilson car park, that cost $75.00, so cheaper with the hotel.
We booked an apartment, that had a full kitchen, lounge and dining room and two bedrooms. It was nearly as big as a house. Really roomy. The furniture was a bit old and out dated, but besides that it had everything you you needed.
The only problem that we had was the shower didn’t turn off. We reported it to reception and while we were on a tour at the Perth mint we got a phone call to say that we were being up graded because the carpet got flooded.
The upgraded apartment didn’t have a kitchen and wasn’t as big but was newly renovated , so was really comfortable.
The pool area was nice and clean and had a really great area to sit and have drinks. BYO so was a huge bonus.
All the staff were so friendly and accomodating.
Would definitely recommend and stay again.

I stayed at the Mercure for 4 nights in May 2022.
This is a facility that has seen better days. Fitout is 80/90s, and is in serious need of a re-do. I'm not sure why it got to me so much, but the shower is from the very earliest days of 'water saving' heads, where a fine mist sprays down and you have to jog around in circles to get wet. There's no ceiling light in the room, and of the three standing lights in 1326, on one had a bulb in it...get used to groping around in the dark. I had to make numerous treks down to front desk to get my room door card 'reset'. In contrast, internet was fairly quick.
Staffing also needs so serious work. Front desk staff were simply unprofessional, responding mostly in grunts. On my third trip down to fix my room card in as many days, the clerk didn't even bother speaking, just grunting as he reset the card and flicked it back across the counter to me. Likewise, on my one sleep in morning, housekeeping burst into my room not once, not twice, but three times in half an hour. The hotel budget does not stretch to a 'Do not disturb sign'.
Location is fairly good, and there's plenty of places for a bite to eat within a 10 minute walk.
The Mercure isn't a disaster at the $135 price point, but you'd be furious if you paid more.

Hotel needs an upgrade looks very tired definitely not deserving 4.5 stars and definitely not a privilege room!! Guest laundry appalling condition broken down equipment and hotels clean linen and other utensils were stored in this filthy room. No alternative option was offered for laundry services. But the staff did the best under the circumstances . Paul, jade , Evita and the F&B deserve a special thanks the did go out of their way to make I comfortable as possible under the sometimes trying circumstances. Housekeeping was good but all over the place and daily phone calls were required to bring missing item to our room. Endet up to buy our own daily shampoos and other items because it was embarrassing to ring up every day asking for missing items.

i a.m allocated a room on the lowest level at the back of the hotel #225.the view is a disaster and the windows are sealed shut, the curtains have to be drawn all day with the lights on. the guards sit outside my room24 hrs.
although the room is very comfortable and stocked with water, fresh linen and WIFI the room would be suitable for a 1 or 2 night stay if you leave the room all day ..this room should not be sold to isolating guests
low score for the deliberate and poor choice of room for a 14 night stay

At the outset, I would like to mention that we just needed accommodation overnight while we attended a family function that was held nearby, in this regard the Mercure served our basic needs. Importantly, the bedding and the room itself was clean but that's about it.
The Mercure is rated as a 4 Star establishment, I think this is highly over rated and a 2 Star or at best 3 Star would be more accurate.
Booking the room was easy, the hotel advertises a valet car parking service, yet, despite the fact that I put in the request for parking to be reserved for me, well in advance of our arrival, they could not guarantee that there would be a space for my car. I only found out that they could assist me with the valet parking when I was checking in. I really can't understand why they could not have confirmed the service for me as I am positive that the car was parked in a nearby public parking garage and not on site. We are an elderly couple and it would not have been a pleasant experience for us to have to carry our bags etc. from a parking garage some distance away, especially as it was raining on the day we arrived.
I checked in on line but still had to call at the reception desk for the key- card and enquire about the parking, the receptionist was reasonably efficient but not very friendly. The key-cards also activated the lift but this was not told to us and it was quite frustrating while we tried to work out how the lift was operated.
The room itself was a disappointment and in no way resembled the photo on their website, apart from the TV the room was bare, no instruction pamphlet, or promotional material etc. and as we found out the next morning, no kettle so a morning cup of coffee was out of the question. In the promotional photo there is a kettle, a bowl of fruit and some coffee mugs in a service space, in reality our space was empty. I suppose I could have asked reception to send us a kettle but at this stage we just wanted to check out...
There was an almost empty mini bar fridge which only had a few small capsules of milk in it, nothing else. The safe was a standard hotel combination type but if you were under six feet it would have been impossible for anyone shorter to use it without standing on a chair as it is situated on the top shelf of the hanging cupboard. I am 6 foot one and I could not reach the back of the safe.
The bathroom is very dated and looked shabby, the floor is covered in a dark wood patterned vinyl sheet and the lights kept on flickering on and off, most irritating. The shower nozzle is set quite low so tallish people would have to duck down if they wanted to wash their hair.
We normally stay at the Westin when in Perth CBD but I was swayed by the Mercure's close proximity to our function venue and the bright well presented rooms in the promotional photos, in our experience, our room in no way resembled the one in the photo which was a disappointment. In retrospect, maybe we should have stuck with the Westin.
We did not use the dining facilities so cannot comment on the food. As mentioned, we just needed overnight accommodation but anyone wanting a mid week or weekend "Stay- cation" will be very disappointed if they choose the Mercure.

The Perth Mercure is located close to shopping, restaurants, Elizabeth Wharf and parks. Staff are friendly and effecient. The rooms are large. East tower rooms have an opening window and an air conditioning system that can be controlled from the room. A/C in West tower rooms is centrally controlled. Plenty of power outlets in the room. The free wifi is fast and reliable. Room service food is tasty with good sized portions.

The Mercure is walking distance to the Docks and restaurants. The room was adequate, but crowded as there were two large beds in a small room and barely enough space to walk around. The bathroom area had NO exhaust fan (or window).
Breakfast is Magnificent !!! Concierge was also helpful… Night time restaurant was closed for meals but it was the same room used for breakfast.

Stayed here for 3 nights last week and was reasonably satisfied.
The place appears a little run down, especially in the reception and pool area. The gym is one of the best hotel gyms I’ve encountered though.
Staff in check in and out were absolutely lovely and couldn’t be more helpful.
My room(233) was a little dated as well and the bathroom had patches on the wall and the shower temperature couldn’t be adjusted- the tap was fixed so it couldn’t be moved. Water pressure was like needles. Kids would get burnt in here. I also dislike how hotels place the towels in the shower area. Showers make towels wet. I have learnt this.
Great bed. Nice pool. Basically just needs some TLC as it was quite expensive for what it was - a very centrally located hotel that is showing a lot of wear and tear.

I booked here for its close proximity to Perth Royal Hospital and the price was very reasonable. I soon saw why the price was so reasonable; the lobby, lifts & rooms are very outdated and run down. I'm talking chunks taken out of walls, carpets in need of replacing, appliances in rooms tired. Toiletries provided in the bathroom were low quality for this standard of hotel.
The staff at this hotel were wonderful. They were friendly and helpful; accommodating the changes I needed to make. They had kind words to say to various patrons and made the time to have real conversations rather than the usual polite but hurried repertoire you get at hotels.

We needed 3 things, somewhere with a car park, room service and clean for 1 night. I chose this place for those reasons.
When I arrived I was informed there were no parks available even though I requested them in my booking. The advertisement needs to reflect this as it looks as though parking is available. They eventually found me a park as I had requested it because I have a disabled permit. My partner found a carpark a block over.
When I got to the room I was surprised with how dated the place was, but for the price it was okay. There was no hotel information in the room and the tv didn't have signal so no hotel orientation or info at all. I tried to use the phone for over 20mins to call reception and operator etc and it rang out each time. I eventually got a paper menu delivered and the man couldn't fix the tv so no hotel information, just the map on the door.
I was in a rush to get ready for an event and tried to order room service but the phone again wasn't answered and kept ringing out for over 20mins. I eventually got through by calling from my mobile and when the food came part of the order was missinv which was another round of unanswerd calls to the kitchen.
The towels were stained and I even discovered someone's sock next to the floor lamp. The air conditioner was set at 16 degrees but it was so hot innthe room and I couldn't adjust it but wasn't attempting to contact reception again.
The bed was comfortable and I am fussy about mattresses and the shower was nice but the bathroom was tiny, you had to manoeuvre around the door.
I paid extra for breakfast the next morning and when I arrived at the restaurant it was very noisy and had the usual buffet fare. Unfortunately I couldn't eat any of it, it was soggy bacon and cold pikelets. The coffee was revolting and I asked if I could order a la carte and get something fresh and a decent coffee and was informed that they had a separate restaurant for that, which is what I thought I was paying extra for. I couldn't wait to leave and get breakfast.
I asked for my car and was told the valet was a bit busy but to wait in the foyer. After 30mins a man came and told me my car had been waiting for a while, but for some reason he had neglected to bring me my key once he had parked it. I found it in a No Stopping zone up the street. Luckily no fine.
The place served it's purpose but was noisy with kids running up and down the corridors and screaming in their rooms. Next time I'll pay more and go somewhere nicer. Also, it turns out I paid for breakfast when it was already included.
