Its nice and central granted, but the windows are very old style and don't let a lot of air in. ~When I stayed there, there was no air-conditioning. The reception is up a flight of stairs so if you struggle to lift your suitcase you might not enjoy this either. Then you get to reception, and the lifts start at... More

I was in Auckland for a conference and I usually stay in the well-known chain cookie cutter hotels when I travel as I get consistency but on this occasion, my colleague booked this hotel which is about 3 minutes from the Skycity conference centre. Last year, I stayed at the Skycity hotel but this time the tariff was so expensive... More

We stayed here on a Friday night and after other reviews re noise on the weekend we asked for a room on the 'quiet side' of the hotel. We were on level 2 and had no issues with noise. Hotel staff were really friendly and we loved the room. Nice & spacious with gorgeous character including the furnishings. The really... More

The guy at reception is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are enormous and well appointed, but the noise is an issue. I definitely wouldnt recommend if you are a light sleeper, apparently the apartments on 3rd and 4th floors are occuppied by tenants who apparently are "either students, artists or people who keep irregular hours." In our case, the... More

This hotel had large apartment-sized rooms with full kitchen and washer/dryer. It was fairly modern, especially the bathroom. The living room needed another chair or loveseat but other than that it had everything we needed and was good value for the money. The Stables next door were handy for meals and conveniently had free WiFi. Also, off-street parking was available... More

Think "19th century fully furnished single apartment", right in the heart of Auckland and walking distance to everything. The rooms are *huge* with ridiculously high ceilings (14 foot?!). They have in-room kitchenettes that are fully furnished, so you could eat in every meal. There's no bathtub, but the bathrooms are quite fine. You won't find your standard hotel accommodations, like... More

We stayed here during the Rugby World Cup 2011, and this seemed to be the only hotel left available that had not hiked it's prices up ridiculously!. It is an absolutely beautiful old building, done up very nicely, and the "Executive Studio" we stayed in was wonderful. It contained a king sized bed, two seater couch & TV, small dining... More

I was hesitant to book for more than one night due to the other reviews about noise but I'm pleased to report we ended up staying an extra 2 nights without incident, we didn't require the earplugs reception can provide. Admittedly as expected in a heritage building the plumbing was a little noisy & we heard the odd bang or... More

Stayed here for a week back in February. This place was easy to find and walking distance to the conference venue, town hall and shopping area. There were several options for eating downstairs in the elliott stables though these were slightly more expensive, though you don't have to go far to find many other options nearby. Overall the experience was... More
