Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Ponsonby Terrace runs off Ponsonby Road so the location was superb. My hosts were delightful. My room was comfortable and it was surprisingly quiet allowing for a good nights sleep.

Ponsonby is one of the most unique areas of the Auckland city, close to the CBD, being an eclectic mix of different ethnic and social groups including very cosmopolitan hipsters who have arrived more recently as well as long established working class immigrants - all in an interesting mix. The cafes, restaurants and boutiques of Ponsonby Road are a draw... More

This is an interesting hotel in a city neighborhood. It reminded me of the Bernal Heights neighborhood in San Francisco. The hotel is a house with a row of rooms behind. Each room is different and has its own character. Let the proprietors (Sally and Gerry) know what you would like in your accommodations and they'll help you pick the... More

This place has everything a great BB should offer: nice quiet location, great host, friendly staff, nice and well equipped room, stunning good breakfast. It was such a wonderful stay. Total satisfaction. We'll come back here the next time in town.

The Great Ponsonby is a most lovely oasis - a collection of low and charming old-style buildings in a great area, and very comfortable indeed. Sally and Gerry always make people, myself included, feel like family. The staff are wonderful, and the breakfasts, frankly, are a dream - the best anywhere. I even finally got to have a taste-off of... More

On a recent visit to New Zealand my wife and I stayed two weeks in The Great Ponsonby Arthotel B&B in Auckland. The main building is built in the New Zealand colonial style typical of the housing in the area, and has a number of self-contained studios in the courtyard. We stayed in one of the studios. It was well... More

Our flight got us into Auckland and to the hotel before 10 AM. The hotel was wrapping up breakfast but happily agreed to make something for us. hey also expedited our room cleaning so we could settle in early. While eating breakfast I mentioned the exchange widows were not yet open as we passed through the airport and asked where... More

We wanted a small homely hotel close to shops, eating places & public transport. This hotel suited us completely. We had a late flight booked from Auckland on the day we checked out and they invited us to leave our rental car & come back to use the lounge & conveniences, make ourselves a cup of tea/coffee before we left... Last moment booking, just arrived an hour later but that didn't matter. Lovely welcome, the staff explains what you can see and do/ where to eat and you listen while sipping your cup of coffee or glass of wine they offer you. The Penthouse was a great room with stunning view from the balcony. The breakfast was to die for...... More

We were looking for a BnB we could enjoy within our budget and the Ponsonby artHotel hit all the right buttons. Cozy, clean, comfortable, cute, colorful, conveniently located (near the Ponsonby bus stop), and with charming staff. We stayed in a garden room with a very comfortable bed. Breakfasts were fresh and ample.
