The staff at check-in were friendly and helpful. The room was basic and clean. The price is good for a hotel in the CBD of Auckland. This is the second time I've been using the hotel and I use it again.

This hotel was one of the worst places I have stayed at. Construction going just outside our window. The noise started at around 7am, the Windows could not keep the noise out. Small room. Staff were approached about the noise, but they said there is nothing they can do.

Rooms very small even for 2 single beds. For $200 a night it was not worth the money. No where to sit except on the beds and could here everything going on in other rooms and slamming doors. Woken at 7am with building work next door. Breakfast buffet not that great for the price.

We stayed for 2 nights this week, on the first morning we were woken up at 6.40am from the building work going on outside, we were on the 6th floor so it wasn't as if it was right outside our window, we complained to the reception in the morning the woman, didn't really care, didn't apologise, she eventually said have... The hotel was clean and central, close to restaurants and transport. However the room was facing a relatively large construction site so be prepared for some noise in the early hours of the morning. The rooms itself was clean but a little small.

The room was very small and the smell outside in the corridor was very strong. Like a parfume shop. The beds was quite good and it was calm outside but we was staying on the 8;th floor. The room could have been a little better cleaned. The staff was friendly and service minded.

We had stayed here before and it was actually quite nice apart from a few rude staff members, we liked the location. It seems that the higher up floors with standard rooms are ok but the apt we stayed in was awful. Walls need to be painted, skirting needs to be fixed, dirt on extractor fan in kitchen, carpets need... More

Friendly staff and location is good, but I thought it was a little overpriced for the quality of the accommodation. Needs a bit of a refurb. I booked a week before arriving and there weren't too many other CBD options on offer, so it did the job.

A perfectly good place to stay. Not flash at all, and yes, the rooms are smallish by NZ hotel standards, but they're fine. It's cheap for central Auckland, and clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly. I recommend it for budget accommodation in central Auckland.

Disappointed stay at Ascotia. Small rooms with lifting carpet and pokey bathrooms. Room smelt of Indian food so much that we had to have the windows open all night long. No air conditioning. Biggest annoyance was parking. I had called a week in advance to book a place for car parking and had also placed this in the original reservation... More
