Everything about the Emerald is big , the hallways are big , the bathrooms are huge and the rooms enormous. Ours had a wonderful sunny baloney overlooking a beautiful pool and spa pool. Good value for money with secure off street parking. Don't be put off by the slightly tired reception the rooms are very nice.

Spacious rooms, great views (river or pool) from large balconies, good menu choices, fantastic, quality food, handy onsite car parking, central location and friendly, happy staff :). Yes, it was a trek to get to the rooms (but that's so the rooms can have great views), reception wasn't always manned (but only a couple of seconds away by mobile), the... More

Checked in here on ANZAC weekend, chose the executive room, river views. Was checked into a room, where the bathroom floor was still wet, there was hair and a dirty towel in the bathroom. Called reception, they sounded unhelpful but later come over and changed the room. The second room looked different to the first one. Was good for a... More

I usually stay at another place in Gisborne and had to go here as the other was full. River view room was huge and well appointed. Room service good. It must have been built by the government as it is so big. A long way to walk anywhere in the hotel. Good off street parking.

Booking on the net can be a leap of faith but this one panned out very well. The central location was fantastic, a lil oasis in the city where from the outside looks were very much deceiving. A nice hotel with large rooms - well equipped and handy to CBD Friendly staff who smile!! Had room service the night that I stayed there, very average for the price and could have been a lot hotter. Breakfast was much better and good value for the price.
