It doesn't get more central than Archie's Bunker, only a few steps away from the art deco town center, about 2min from the beach and literally right in front of the museum. This is the best place to stay at when planning to make the mos of Napier. Plus, the awesome staff helped us make the most of our stay,...

Stayed 3 nights at Archie's Bunker. Good things were a nice big room with towels and toiletries. Because they were fully booked we got upgraded for free and that was really nice. Another good thing was the free wifi that actually worked. Unfortunately the reception was closed when we arrived. We had to call the owner on the cell phone....

I booked online through their website for 5 people the night before we got to Napier, got a confirmation email and then forgot about it. We got there the next day to hear that they had no idea how I booked online since they don't offer this service, that they had sent me an email saying the room I booked...

The name "bunker" fits quite well. My 10 Bed dorm only had a small window you couldn't open all the way so it got pretty sticky at night. Beds are comfy and clean however. Kitchen is a bit messy but sufficiant for short term. Staff at reception is very friendly and if you are looking for a job as a...

Tina running Archies is awesome, friendly and kind. We were in need of work and she found us jobs within 24 hours. We cleaned for accomodation and worked outsite of the hostel. Everybody is friendly. Archies has everything you need and it has the best location in town. We will be back to visit again someday.

Don't let one bad review ruin your opinion on Archie's Bunker. I stayed at Archie's for 5 weeks and it was definitely one of the best experiences of my travels so far. The location is good. 2 minute walk to the beach front, and it 10 minute walk into the town centre. The hostel it's self is very clean! You...

Was thinking twice to check-in hostel when read review from Tripadvisor. But in the 2 weeks in the hostel, learnt that most of the mess are from irresponsible backpackers who never wash their dishes and messing up lounge. On the other hand, the manager did her best to help find work and managing the staff. Location is good (5 mins...

This hostel should be advertised as a long term hostel. It was by far the least welcoming place I have stayed in. The room i was in was nice - light and clean. But In general I really wouldn't recommend staying here as it is grimy, lacks kitchen utensils and reeks of weed. Sorry to give a bad review I...

We really enjoyed Archie's. It was a quiet hostel with lots of long-term stayers but friendly nonetheless! Only slight downside was that our room didn't have a window but there was a fan so it didn't get too stuffy. I believe it's only the downstairs rooms that are like this as well and having 'Bunker' in the name of the...

When we first arrived, we liked this place. Gayle, the previous manager, was really sweet and did everything to help us find work, and Grant, the owner was also really friendly. Big plus for the TV in our room and a big selection of DVDs, and also the wifi which was amazing by NZ standards. We didn't have a window...
