The owner, Marie, has completely remodeled this hostel, making it the most beautiful, modern one I've ever seen. I wish I could rate it better than a 5. Marie has such style. It is decorated in an uncluttered beach theme. The kitchen is huge, immaculate, and beautifully decorated. An ugly building used to block the hostel's view of the sea....

We stayed at Seabeds in a double room over the new year and enjoyed our stay very much. The bed was very comfy, both the room and en-suite were very clean, the view over the beach was lovely, and the staff were very friendly and catered for our very late arrival on a Friday evening. The kitchen and communal dining/living...

Stayed here for five nights and it is a great place in a good location. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the rooms are spotlessly clean and ours had a wonderful view out to sea. Great kitchen and lounge areas to use. Can't rate it highly enough

This hostel is beautiful!! My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights in late October 2015. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm that was laid out in such a way that each set of 2 beds (not bunks) had their own privacy. The beds were warm and comfy. This hostel has a fresh new and modern feel to...

Had a wonderful stay at Seabeds. Location is perfect, just a ten minute walk from the bus stop where the naked bus dropped us off so very easy for backpackers using the bus to travel NZ. The dorm was more like a hotel room, lovely shared room with great duvets and bed linen, felt very cosy. Kitchen is immaculate and...

Wonderful place to stay in Paihai. We enjoyed 3 relaxing days here, great views, location and facilities. Kitchen was excellent for cooking our meals. Marie runs the best hostel on the North Island! Lovely, friendly and helpful owner/manager. Very high standards meant the kitchen and common areas were always clean and organized.

Of all the BBH hostels I've stayed in throughout the year in NZ, this definitely tops it all. The dorms look more like a hotel room than a hostel. You get your own individual bed and lots of room space (more than you would bargain for at the price you're paying). The owner is extremely friendly and would make you...

I spotted Seabeds in the Lonely Planet and noted the excellent write up about its great interiors and style. I was one of the first customers of the season and the friendly owner was just redecorating the last of the rooms - given the reviews I had seen I don't even know if it would have needed redecorating. Everything from...

We stayed in a lot of BBH hostels in New Zealand while we were there for a month, and although a lot of them were fantastic, Seabeds sticks out in our minds as the best one we stayed at. Modern, lovely staff, and really good location. This was luxury for us backpackers!

Arrived late in the afternoon and had the one experience anyone don't want on a peak-season holiday - booking mishaps! We arrived expecting to have a private room ready for us but unfortunately, there was a booking error that there isn't any private room available. We were in panic as after that long drive from Auckland, we might not be...
