As my title says great location and great staff! Vintage hotel with interesting decor of an era gone by. I was however disappointed with the room. Large cobwebs in one corner, dingy curtains, and no shelf/ soap dish in shower. There apparently had been one on the shower wall but it was obvious that it had either fallen off or...

I stayed in the older historic part of the hotel therefore the room had character, with a high chandelier. In contrast the bathroom was modern. It was a great room, I felt absolutely privileged to get a room in that part of the hotel. However the only window was too high to get a view, which was a shame since...

Having stayed the Princes Gate Hotel some 10 years ago and enjoyed the experience we decided to return on our latest visit to Rotorua. Dating back to the end of the 19th century the hotel still reminds visitors of a bygone era. It has undergone significant restoration over the years and even in the time since we were last there...

Very comfortable hotel with good amenities. Close to the city and shops and street parking was not a problem. Quaint "old style" decor in the foyer, lounge, bar and and dining rooms add to the hotel's charm

we had a lovely stay at this place, the room was quite small though, but it is definitely a boutique hotel. Would stay here again for 1 night, it is centrally located as well and the staff were accommodating and helpful, they let us leave our luggages as we had to leave early to do the tongariro crossing😍

The Hotel is historic and characterful. We had no problem with it, or the staff. The rooms however are as bad as anything we have experienced. Called a "Classic double" our room didn't have any space or storage. The wardrobe is 20cm wide! with the Hotels robes and ironing board inside there was no room to hang clothes. The description...

Dear Kevin L Thank you for your review and I am sorry you were unhappy with your room. We are launching a new website which will have more accurate descriptions of our rooms. The room you were in is a smaller room and will be classified as a "Snug" room to more accurately describe it. Planned refurbishments to all our...

Rooms were tidy, and vintage decorated as per the photos. A couple of bits of furniture didn't match the theme, but apart from that, very beautiful rooms and hotel. Unfortunately the cleaning wasn't to detail, and a lot of rooms had dust around and on the furniture. Can't be very hard to get a duster out! Made the big mistake...

Nice accommodations. Great staff went above and beyond the call of duty. Strong wifi in the room, room service was good. Very comfortable beds. Nice kitchenette. Somewhat older hotel, but really nice for a traveling family. Lovely building and great location. Food in restaurant was very good, included carnivore, vegan/vegetarian option and kids menu. Enjoyed high tea in the dining...

On paper this hotel should be great being right in the centre of Rotorua and within easy walking distance of many restaurants and the lake front. Our room was a suite with sitting area, kitchen, big bathroom, and squashed in bedroom with a 'double' bed somewhat smaller than a queen sized bed and a single bed as well. A real...

Princes Gate Hotel is a very pretty old building in Rotorua within walking distance of many restaurants and shopping. We stayed in the annex which is apartments, right next door to the old building.
