Friendly staff welcomed us in and we had the Wilkes room which was lovely. We just stayed the one night as we passed through Rotorua, and breakfast was good, everyone was helpful. Nice balcony to sit in the sun and all in all, we were pleased we choose the Princes Gate.

This Hotel is really special, if you like something that harks back to the old days this place is for you... Beautifully decorated will large fire to keep warm by. The food was amazing and the kitchen accommodated 9 of us that we're very late to sit down to eat.... Friendly staff and very helpful and extremely accommodating.

What a beautiful place to stay, so much history. Our room was beautifully decorated. It was our wedding anniversary and my daughter had emailed them re card and chocolates, they were beautifully wrapped with a lovely card. Staff were very helpful.

Months of planning , took our daughter to NZ Aria competition . The hotel room has a faulty bath tap which resulted in boiling water burning our daughters hand. At Accident and medical until 11pm. The owner was dismissive and said accidents happen and our fighter could just as easily have died crossing the street .

We just stayed the one night here on a 3 night round trip of the middle of the north Island. It was the best night. Hotel staff very friendly. We stayed in a suite and it was amazing. Big and spacious. It felt like a home away from home - very comfortable . Excellent location , walked everywhere. Will stay...

This hotel has old world charm in bucketloads and the communal areas are fantastic. Which is why our room was such a let-down. Small can often be beautiful but it needs to be well designed. The only natural light in this room came from the door which made it feel like a cell. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable, the...

The Hotel is beautiful full of Edwardian charm with it's antique furniture and fittings. The décor is stunning. This was our first stay and we booked a "Classic Room", however lovely, it was very small which was a huge disappointment as my husband is a large man. As we were staying for 2 nights, I enquired at reception and was...

The greeting we received when we arrived was genuinely warm and friendly. Our room, was just lovely, quiet & very comfy bed, a wonderful hot shower and a nice area to have a pre diner drink on the balcony outside our room. Downstairs to a scrumptious 'earlybird' special dinner - from 5 till 6.30. (we had a 7pm engagement. The...

Stayed at the Princes Gate hotel for 2 nights as part of a road trip through New Zealand. First things first, the hotel is old and beautiful. Our room was gorgeously decorated. Really opulent and over the top, and I loved it! It was also really warm and toasty - essential for early spring in Rotarua. We didn't really use...
