Susan and Tony made us welcome in every way from pre-dinner drinks by the fire in the sitting room to excellent advice on local excursions and places of interest. We learnt a lot about New Zealand today from lively conversation over the evening drinks. The bedroom was extremely comfortable, well furnished with a lovely selection of things provided in the... On our tour of NZ we stayed in several family run bed and breakfasts. This was the highlight of our trip. We were made very welcome by the owners, joining them for drinks and snacks each evening and they made every effort to ensure we saw the best of the local attractions and tried the best restaurants.

We didn't think our experience of New Zealand could be improved upon but Susan and Tony proved us wrong. They were so welcoming, relaxing us from the first much needed cuppa. Our room was well appointed and comfortable with a lovely view and all one could wish for. Throughout our three night stay they made us feel totally at home... More

We are so disappointed that our stay was limited to one night. Tony and Susan are superlative hosts; welcoming us after our early evening arrival to drinks and appetizers on their veranda overlooking Lake Taupo. Positives: Everything! The hosts, accommodations, breakfast, location . . . and did I mention hosts! We thought about kayaking while there, and Tony offered to... More

Tony and Susan were the most generous and friendly hosts one could hope to meet. Our room was extremely comfortable and well thought out. Drinks and canapes every night with our hosts and other guests was much enjoyed by all. Ideas of what to see in our short time with them and where to go for dinner were much appreciated.... More

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights as part of our 5 week tour of N and S Island. We were met by our hosts who immediately made us welcome with tea and cake. Drinks on the patio followed after we unpacked with canapés and fun chats. The bedroom was a good size and scrupulously clean. Our balcony... More

The Lodge is a few steps away from the Lake through the back garden and only a short drive from the Town Centre. Tony and Susan are excellent hosts and have put a great deal of thought into the design of the Lodge to ensure that guests are very comfortable. Unlike many lodges and hotels the soundproofing is excellent and... More

We were made very welcome by Susan and Tony - our room was very comfortable with a great uninterrupted view of Lake Taupo. As well as delicious breakfasts we enjoyed interesting conversations over pre-dinner canapés and a glass of wine. We had 2 nights here and found our hosts friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was lovely with a balcony overlooking the lake and we had no trouble walking down to the lake shore. On our travels we met another couple who had stayed there who had thoroughly enjoyed their stay. We thought it was one of the best places... More
