Basic accommodation within 10 mins walk to lake. Nice fresh decor and clean rooms. Good beds. Basic solar heated swimming pool. Small Spa pool indoors in lockable room. Trampoline for kids. We stayed in room 10 which is has lake views being on the second floor. It's a two bedroom unit with a queen in one room and two singles in the other. Unfortunately , this room has a slightly quirky design that has high triangle windows along the walls at both ends of the unit. These windows don't have curtains so not suitable for light sleepers or anyone with kids who need them in bed before sunset in Summer time. At night, a security light from within the complex on the end of the next block shines all night into the unit. I mentioned it to the owner and she was quite defensive saying that I was the first person who had complained and that she had no plans to do anything about the light issue. I know for certain that it is an ongoing issue with this unit because the cleaners said the owner was aware of it and the previous owners had gone so far as to cut out temporary cardboard shapes to slot over the windows. It's a pity as it makes what should be a premium room into a unit with issues. Very easy and relatively cheap to fix in a number of ways. The new owner's attitude was surprising to me and was on the edge of bolshy. It was certainly not the response we were expecting. She has a little bit to learn about customer service. It was vehement enough to make the whole family come to the opinion that we don't want to stay at this motel again. Watch out for the Scottish Terrier on reception!…
Some nice features about the motel like the spa pool and game room but rooms are old and refurbishment in the two bedroom unit we stayed in had some health and safety issues. One bedroom had two single beds, one of which was way too long for the room and obstructs the doorway. Also the toilet room was a tiny closet with only a foot or less between the toilet and the wall, which is relatively easy to use if you don't have to sit down or if you are a contortionist!
My wife & I stayed for the weekend. The Moyelis an easy stroll into town The rooms are comfortable , clean and secure. Concrete block construction means noise is well insulated between rooms. Parking is convenient and out of sight of the road so feels secure. Jo, the host , was friendly & helpful. We will be back next time we stay in Taupo.
Stayed just one night. Booked as we drove and were really well attended to by the owner. Very attractive price. What a lovely surprise!! Big, big rooms. Super clean and tidy. Looks like it’s had a recent refurb. The style is “Old School Kiwiana”, and in today’s world of generic kitsch, is so cool, without trying to be so. A short walk to town centre and the lake. Pet friendly. Very quiet. We will be back! Highly recommended.
We booked the 3 bedroom apartment and really enjoyed it! The Manager and staff were super friendly and helpful. The apartment was perfect for us and was cleaned everyday. We even enjoyed the private spa pool. Things we really enjoyed were: - Friendly Staff - Daily room cleaning - Parking space for 2 cars - Great location (especially if you want to experience Rotorua and Tongariro also. Also got a great price on their website. Really happy with this Motel!
