James Cook Hotel was an alright start to our trip in New Zealand. The room was adverage and the food was average as well. I had more expectation with the decor in the rooms but it was clean and comfortable. The location was really good since it was in the city but gave a view to a blank wall.

The James Cook Hotel is long established and lives up to its great reputation. Central location means you have a short walk to the Golden Mile shopping precinct and numerous conference facilities, government and businesses. Helpful staff and hotel has recently been renovated

Great location. Lovely rooms. But little fees here and there. $5 fee for room service - but not mentioned on Breakfast page so you get caught out. $1 fee deducted on check in. Credit card fee on check out. Takes the edge off the experience. Should be easy and transparent. They should build the costs in like everyone else does.

Another great stay with professional and helpful service , particularly from the Concierge Department. Our room was airy and spacious and I really liked the whole wing of the Hotel across the high rise walkway.

the hotel was very good, a little tired in terms of décor but clean and friendly. We found it hard to get wifi in the room but we had an issue with accidentally booking a movie, which was hastily rectified with no charge. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again

Great location - on the terraces close to the gardens and the wharves - enjoyed the free golf (club hire a bit pricy) and hotel staff very friendly - loved Wellington - very buzzy with lots to do for all ages

Excellent arrive, brilliant staff. Highly recommend. The staff went over and above to help me out when I mistakenly booked the rooms for the wrong dates. They made sure there was a room available for my husband and I.

got upgraded to a suite, the suite was exceptional with great views and amenities. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and the food was perfect, again the views from the restaurant were lovely, overlooking the city and harbour.

Spent a night here, and that was enough for me. Great location, elevators go straight to Lambton Quay. The room was okay, has everything you need, a bed, shower and bath in one. We were on level 25,and the only view we had was of another tall building.Staff were friendly though but it's a very basic room and nothing really...
