I generally like staying here although its getting a bit dated. Its good location to top of The Terrace but getting to Lambton Quay. Having recently been evacuated early morning, please remember not to smoke in any rooms as this will set off fire alarm.

Chose this hotel because they were supposed to provide some extra benefits for Expedia Rewards program members. The front desk was not aware of any extra so there you go. The internet is for money only, although based on the calendar that I use we live in 2016 now and not in the 90's. The room was in bit dire...

Not only is this in the best location in Wellington as it's so central but our room was spotless & comfortable with a great view. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be going back.

Excellent location - it's right on Lampton Quay and a 2 minute walk from the ASB arena and waterfront bars and restaurants. The room was a bit dated but was very clean, warm and comfortable. All staff were friendly and informative, even when they were very busy with large groups of people checking in. Their breakfast offerings were amazing. I...

We picked up a great special for our one-night stay in Wellington and were very impressed with the quality of the hotel and the friendliness of staff. It's a great location in the heart of the city, with a short walk to the harbour and restaurants, and only a few doors down from the cable car.

The James Cook has been my preferred place to stay in Wellington for a long time and every time I go nothing causes me to change my mind. The team are always friendly and helpful and the food is superb. Thoroughly recommended.

Couldn't believe it was so quiet yet in the middle of the CBD. Great spot to be in to walk wherever we needed to go - wharf - cafes - shopping. Great service - very efficient. Rooms well presented and very clean. Staff were really busy when we arrived and let but still had a smile on their face.

Hotel was centrally located. Everything we needed was a walk away. Food services were good. Like many upscale hotels they have poor WIFI and they need better TV choices. 14 channels and all poor.Parking was good but not included. Staff was very useful about all our needs.

Handy location, walking distance to most things in Wellington central. Helpful staff gave us good advice getting to Weta Workshops. Good family place to stay. Would recommend to others to stay here as it has easy access to waterfront and restaurants.
