This cosy spot is absolutely exceptional. Trudy and Barry are the kindest and most accommodating hosts and the rooms and setting are just wonderful. Sitting outside the room, looking across the vines to the hills, in the early evening with a cup of tea and one of Trudy's homemade biscuits is about as perfect as can be! Trudy had contacted us in advance to suggest and make restaurant and tour bookings, all of which were fabulous. The room was delightful and very comfortable and the breakfasts were divine. I cannot imagine there is a better place to stay in Marlborough and we will look forward to returning!

Your stay with us was truly a delight Sarah and David. We so thoroughly enjoyed our times of chatting with you about the vineyard and about Marlborough in general, and are so pleased you stayed long enough to enjoy a wine tour as well as a day of bike riding! We are happy that you liked the biscuits and the breakfasts and would be extremely happy to have you visit with us at Straw Lodge again. Best wishes always, Trudy and Barry

Straw Lodge is the place to be if you are planning a trip to Blenheim. Amazing vineyard views, fabulous accommodations with comfy beds with all of the comforts of home and the most genuine and friendly hosts you could ever ask for. A visit to the Straw Lodge has been on my bucket list for a number of years when planning my 2 month holiday to New Zealand. We were on our honeymoon and we felt we were in paradise from the moment we arrived. It was so hard to leave. Trudy makes you feel like family from the moment you meet her and makes incredible breakfasts fit for a king. Barry complements Trudy with his charm, personality and knowledge of the vineyards. If you are looking for a private oasis that will let you be immersed around spectacular vineyards, look no farther than The Straw Lodge. It is the hidden gem in Blenheim. Book this Mazing lodge along with a meal at Gramado’s restaurant and you will make memories that will last a lifetime. Bonnie

We had the most wonderful opportunity to meet two very special people in Bill and Bonnie. Even prior to their arrival at Straw Lodge, we had been emailing one another and very much looking forward to their visit. They most definitely met with our expectations, seeming like long lost friends soon after our meeting 😊 We loved hearing all their interesting stories, and in no time at all, felt as if they were part of our very own family. We delight in hearing that they loved being immersed in the vineyard surroundings, and that they considered this to be a private Oasis. And we are so glad they enjoyed our breakfasts as well as dinner at some of Blenheim’s amazing restaurants !!

Bewertet vor 3 Wochen für einen Aufenthalt im Dezember 2019 Mit Google übersetzen We had a fantastic stay at Strawlodge. The room was spacious, clean and totally comfortable. The breakfast was just great and the “special” mixed platter for Christmas Eve was awesome. But the best thing about this Bed and Breakfast were the hosts Trudy and Barry. We were so friendly and warmly received and felt almost like old friends. We had the impression that our wishes were read from our eyes. A stay that we will never forget and can only recommend to everybody. Thank you so much, Trudy and Barry for this unforgettable Christmas!

What a pleasure it was for us to have such delightful guests staying with us over Christmas. Even though we had never met you before Harald and Ingrid, as soon as we were introduced, we felt as if you were friends from some time ago whom we were so glad to welcome back to Straw Lodge! We are happy to know you enjoyed the breakfasts and it was lovely to know that the gourmet platter we made for you, reminded you of your Christmas traditions at home 😊 We so appreciated your fun sense of humour and the fact that your visit is one we enjoyed so much that we too will never forget!

We managed to book the lodge on the 22nd of April through their website, not knowing they had already closed for winter. They were still more than willing to open just for us and we had a very warm welcome! Trudy and Barry are just such lovely, generous people; it was a delight meeting them! The lodge is decorated with an eye for detail and for all your needs possible. If you feel like being spoiled for a weekend (or longer) this is definitely the place to be! Seppe & Dorien

We are so very glad you made a last minute decision to stay with us at Straw Lodge, Seppe and Dorien, because your visit was absolutely delightful. We do close the Homestay over the winter months, but we are always accessible by email, and always willing to accommodate people when they have a need. We were so happy to spoil you and hopefully give you a lasting memory of the hospitality of the South Island! We wished you had been able to stay longer, but since you couldn't we are just so very pleased to have met you and enjoyed your company during the time you were with us. Best wishes, Trudy and Barry

Trudy and Barry have created the perfect retreat amidst their vineyards. We initially planned on staying just one night, but were so infatuated by Straw Lodge that we extended to three nights (luckily it was the end of the season and there was space for us). The perfect hostess, Trudy suggested amazing dining experiences and made reservations for us. Additionally, she suggested outings in the area, including making arrangements at artist studios and for horseback riding. Time spent with Barry and Trudy was fun! We chatted in the mornings and upon our return at the end of the day. The location of Straw Lodge is convenient within the Marlborough wine region. We stayed in the second of their two accommodations and everything you would might need was thought of to make our stay perfect. We travel lots and have stayed in many bed and breakfasts, but this stay was truly special. We were welcomed as friends and treated like family. Oh and I must say how amazing the breakfasts were each morning - fresh and sumptuous. They also gift you with a bottle from their vineyard - very tasty. Morning walks in the vineyard were a great way to start each day. Needless to say our photos were beautiful. If you are planning a trip to this wine region, plan at least three days at Straw Lodge, a week would be perfect! We will be returning!

Wow Karen and Bruce, Barry and I truly appreciate this wonderful review you have so kindly submitted to TripAdvisor for us, but feel we should be thanking you for the absolutely wonderful time we had with you during your visit to Straw Lodge. Organising outings for you was such fun, because you were keen to enjoy everything you could while you were here, and looking after you was our pleasure indeed. We delighted in the fun times we had chatting together and hearing all your fascinating stories and in no time at all, we felt as if you were close friends whom we hadn't seen in a long time and with whom we thoroughly enjoyed catching up on all that had happened since we were last together! We were thrilled that you could stay longer than originally intended and were sad to see you leave, but very happy to read that you will be returning one day :-)
