What a pleasure it was to stay at the Straw Lodge! It was by far our favorite hotel in New Zealand. The lodge is small with only a couple of rooms so the feel of the entire experience is extremely intimate and personalized. The owners, Trudy and Barry, are unbelievably welcoming and hospitable. Every morning begins with a custom breakfast,...

We spent Christmas 2012 at this wonderful B&B with our two teenage children. Although thousands of miles away, we felt like we were with family. Need I say more? The food was scrumptious and the rooms were impeccable. We ride their bicycles around the countryside, soaked our tired legs in the chilly river and just enjoyed the open spaces; a...

This is a beautiful B&B in a gorgeous setting with the nicest hosts. Trudy and Barry recently bought the B&B and vineyard from the prior owners and they couldn't be better hosts. The place is beautifully kept up. The room is very large with a separate sitting area and its own terrace looking out on the vineyard and the valley....

We stayed one night at the Straw Lodge in September 2013. Nettie and Jane were the most gracious hostesses one could ask for, and I fell in love with giant Texas immediately. The room was very comfortable and private, and we took full advantage of the bicycles as to explore the river and surrounding vineyards. I was initially concerned the...

Our little cottage was separate from the main building and 2 suites. It was a sweet place, separate bedroom, lounge/kitchen, laundry area, outside patio where we bbq'd our own steaks. Kitchen was made of beautifully made NZ wooden cabinetry, good size w full sized fridge, coffee plunger. Took cup of tea to bed, opened the curtains and watched the vineyard...

Having read all the previous reviews we were looking forward to somewhere special to end our holiday in NZ. We certainly found it. Nettie, Bill & Jane were superb hosts from the moment we arrived until our sad departure. We arrived early evening to a pre-arranged platter absolutely full of fresh local produce accompanied by their own 'Worlds End' extremely...

Our stay at the Straw Lodge was fantastic: Nettie, Jane, BIll and Texas really gave us a lovely time. First of all, the lodge is located in the middle of the vineyard, with an incredible view on the mountains. These same vines that produces a great Sauvignon Blanc that we had a chance to taste with the other guests. Breakfasts...

My wife & I were lucky enough to spend a few days at the Straw Lodge in early March and felt like we wanted to move in! This cozy place is just a bit outside of the downtown Blenheim area on a little boutique winery (with some very delicious wine!). Nettie & Jane are so friendly and easy to talk...

Our trip to New Zealand was much too rushed, but we take what we can get. My college student daughter had a one week break from school, so off we went. After a VERY long day driving from Queenstown to Blenheim (I don't recommend doing that!) we arrived at the Straw Lodge in the evening & were met by Nettie...

I've just read over the other recent reviews and I don't what to add. Nettie, Jane and Bill could have done literally nothing else to make our stay more enjoyable. From arrival drinks and snacks (happy hour!) with their own lovely wines (Worlds End SB and PN) through to advice on where to visit and eat over our 3 night...
