Situated close to and between incessantly noisy SH1 and the main trunk line robs this quaint cottage of its rural charm. The well appointed shed is hot and has no water or toilet. 1 toilet/bathroom in the complex had its challenges for 5 adults. The trudge along the pebbled beach to see the seals was hard work but worth it.

If your family needs a break away from the hustle and bustle of life then this is the place for you. We had a wonderful weekend with our kids on motorbikes, walks on the beach, dinner at The Store, good book and a bottle of wine, even the dog was happy. No electronics in sight for us or the kids...

Location, location, location... Well appointed cottage with sea views. We had a wonderful relaxing stay. Two nights was not long enough - and would definitely consider a repeat visit. Lovely farm-style kitchen with great sea views. Close enough to walk down to the beach. Loved the seal colony (turn left towards the rocks when you reach the beach) and the...

A 2 night weekend and a perfect spot, spent relaxing and did a couple of great hikes along rivers and the beach. Location wise it was great and secluded. We loved visiting the east coast and spotted many seals!

This cottage is an absolute gem. It is set in rural lands, with no other houses in sight. Instructions to find it were clear, although the instructions were in minutes rather than kilometres, and stopping for photos created some uncertainty. However, significant landmarks are are noted. The cottage has two bedrooms, ( one twin and 1 queen size), a seperate...

Woodside Cottage was a delight in every way. We booked for 3 nights and stayed for 4. Emaculately clean and exactly as described on the website. We arrived to find clumps of snowdrops in the home paddock, quietly grazing sheep adding to the rural seaside ambiance and the cottage had an open fire, comfortable beds with feather duvets and electric...

We stayed two nights at Woodside Cottage during a family holiday to New Zealand in August, and would have gladly stayed a few nights longer as we were enjoying the experience so much. About 45 minutes north from Kaikoura, the cottage is certainly secluded, but for us that was part of the appeal of the place. The directions given by...

I was somewhat worried about our upcoming two night stay at Woodside Cottage last week after reading the only other TripAdvisor review, which found the cottage wanting. To my overwhelming relief, our stay was flawless. We had no issues finding it, as it is the only cottage in the area. There were fresh flowers in every room, the accommodations were...

My wife and I stayed at the Woodside Cottage on the Kaikoura coast of New Zealand's South Island in late September of 2005. Seclusion is the calling card of the cottage as it is extremely hard to find from the main road (directions literally call for driving down a gravel path bordering the local wool shed). The cottage is cozy...

“There's two lovely bedrooms with queen in one and twin in the other but a separate cottage with another king room that we didn't see makes it a great place for couples or extended family also.”
